Street Bound

Chapter 23

The next morning the entire pack was awoken by a loud earth shattering whistle like sound. Everyone was quick to their feet running outside they stared in horror as they watched beyond the trees. There was a dark orange color bursting in the air as dust flew up everywhere. It was destroying everything and anything in its path.

Nobody spoke, but they all knew one thing for sure. They needed to start running. As if all at once they turned tail and ran the opposite way toward the one place they all knew as a home. The city. There people were screaming in terror as they ran around like madness. The entire pack was confused, but all he humans were running one way and one way only. Towards a large chain link fence. Deciding that was their best option everyone follow Zeus & Raven to the fence where large men in uniforms were stopping anyone and everyone before they tried to enter. As they came up to the man he studied them and muttered some words to the other man in uniform. They both nodded their heads and let them through. The pack followed the few humans who happened to have made it through. They followed them onto a large silver platform which happened to be on top of a hill. This hill overlooked the tree tops in the forest they once called home. The orange monster as they decided to call it was coming close and fast.

They heard all the men in uniforms screaming at each other as they heard a loud buzzer as the floor below them began dropping as they watched the orange monster rush over top of them all as the pack stayed on the opposite side of the humans as far as possible. Acer the young pup was shaking below his mother Zuma. She hushed him but wasn't too courageous about it herself. She too was quaking in fear as was mostly everyone else.

The platform came to a stop as humans In lab coats ushered them off. Raven shook a little in fear as these people remind her of the place she ended up in so many times with injuries. The glanced to her back end to see all the scaring and a quite fresh wound starting to heal from Keesha once more. One human looked over all the dogs. The pack was very uneasy, but let the humans look at them from paw to tail. Everyone came out okay, but they all had to get a few vaccines. They were led to another women in a lab coat who clicked different collars around all their necks. Raven tried gnawing hers off at first, but was unsuccessful in doing so.

The female human then led them to an enclosed place where it was very cold, but bearable. She stood them to stay as she closed and locked the door behind them. Zeus was the first one to break the silence. "What the fuck just happened." Nobody answered until Lyla stepped forward and spoke "I have heard of this my old human used to research this kinda of things. He called it Nuclear Disaster. Basically some other pack is angry at our pack. As in pack I mean all of us including the humans. Anyway they use big machines and fire a bomb thing over to destroy our lands and ruin everything." Raven nodded as it made sense, but it was still confusing on some parts.

"So where are we? Why did they let us through rather than some of the other humans?" Bronx spoke with a sincere voice as he stood fairly close to his new found lover, Lucky. "They call it a bunker or a vault. My human had one made for him & I in case this ever happened. Basically they most likely took us so dog species doesn't go extinct. We stay down here until the air isn't toxic. They have us marked with these.." Lyla spoke while she moved her neck causing the collar around her neck to make a noise "so they know where we are and can check our health daily." The group nodded while Zeus stood there with his eyes brows furrowed. "So what does this mean for us then?"

Raven stood and Spoke "This means it's time for us to not become Street Bound Mutts as we have been, it's time for us to become Vault Bound. We need to escape once it is safe. It wont be easy. The humans let us through for a reason, and I don't know about you all but I'm not to keen on sticking around to find out what that reason is." They all nodded in agreement as they looked from one another. They were all one big happy family. Been through thick and thin. To hell and back. They are about to go through a hella lot worse things than they have ever been through.
