Street Bound

Chapter 16

The air was cold. She could feel the bitterness of it nipping at her side, but she shook it off practicing attacking for the third time that day. That's all Raven had been doing for months. Eat, Sleep, Train, and repeat. She didn't stop for anything or anyone. Her pack was beginning to worry about her.

She pounced onto leather bag sinking her teeth into it as if it were a carcass of a thick skinned animal. She shook with all her night her neck muscles glistening in the sun in which decided to peak out of the cloud a little. Ravens shaped had changed quite a bit over the last few months. Her fur was more coarse, her muscles were now very visible and more protruding than before, her eyes lost most of their color now they were dark and dull like how she felt inside. Her ears flickered hearing a thunderous growl behind her. She quickly let go of the leather bag and turned toward the growl.

There stood Zeus in all his glory, his silhouette bigger than before. He also changed over the last few months his figure quite seriously glowing. Becoming a father to two healthy pups will change someone I suppose. His muscles were also more visible as he bulked up to be able to protect his pups. His eyes were full of happiness and light unlike Ravens. He was all around happy, and that's why he made the perfect Alpha. A few weeks ago the pack took a vote as they were in desperate need of a leader, and Zeus was voted in. This also made Zuma the Alpha Female. Together they were a power couple.

Her eyes snapped to Zeus' worried looking ones. His concern for Raven was the most visible to notice. He did this everyday he came to her training area and spared with her for a little before returning to his mate and two pups. He was proud of his one male and one female pup who were growing quite quickly almost two weeks already.

Since last week when Sasha gave birth to one little female pup. Raven had been training extra this week her body showing that from the scratches on her side which were still in the process of healing. Zeus knew this was hard for Raven as he tried his best to be there for her. Although he did have something that may cheer her up a little bit, and give her something else to do to keep her mind off everything.

"Hey Rave, I have something to ask you. I've been waiting for the right time and I think now is the best time." He spoke with certainly. Raven trotted up to her best friend panting as she was taking all her anger of the day out on the leather bag. "What's up?" She tried to sound happish but failed miserably. She had been avoiding Sasha and Marteau at any and all costs as she couldn't bare any more pain. Anytime Sasha would approach her she would turn around and walk off. Thankfully Sasha never followed.

"Look I know how hard these past three months have been on you, and how hard you've been training.. it's really paying off well." He looked at her muscular body nodding. Raven smirked "I try." Zeus chuckled at her commentary. The one thing that hadn't changed about Raven was her humor and ability to make anyone smile.

"I want you to be my Beta." Zeus spoke quickly wanting to get on with the point. Raven stood there dumbfounded "M-Me? I don't even have a mate anymore don't I need one to be Beta?" Her voice cracked a little on mate anymore as it was still quite a painful subject for her to discuss.

"Originally the rules of pack laws are yes you do need a mate, but I spoke with other Alphas and they said it can be an exception for you as they know how hard you have worked." Zeus had become quite close with a few alphas of other street dog packs. He didn't want another rivalry on his paws.

Zeus was filled with excitement for Raven. He knew she needed this more than anyone else. Plus she would be able to keep everyone in line. Raven nodded her head "I suppose being your Beta won't be so bad so I can keep you in line." She joked causing a soft chuckle to escape him. "Good, we will have the ceremony later tonight. Show Sasha what she's missing." He smirked whispering the last part in her ear as she also smirked with a sneaky glare in her eye.

Zeus left Raven to prepare for tonight as she finished up her daily training a little early to go freshen up. She trotted to the small pond just east of their territory. She then took a running start and jumped into the pond. She swam around feeling all the dried mud and grass get freed from her fur.

"Hey.." she heard someone say softly from the bank and she looks up to see Sasha standing there. Raven scoffed getting out of the water and shaking all the access water from her fur right next to Sasha soaking her as well.

"It's been 3 months Raven. Aren't you gonna say anything to me? Yell at me? Something!? It's killing me that you won't even look my way." Raven froze hearing her say this and faced Sasha. "You really want to hear what I have to say? That your a selfish player bitch that I NEVER EVER shoulda fell in love with, EVER! Why should I talk to someone who threw me in the dirt when I needed you most! Someone who goes and cheats! You disgust me Sasha." With that she turned and ran to Zeus' den as it was almost time for the ceremony.

Raven waited patiently behind Zeus and Zuma's den. She could see Marteau and Sasha with their little female up front. Off to the side was the weim Lyla. She had adapted quite quickly to the pack. She learned to hunt and fight with a little help from Raven of course. She was more fierce now, but she never lost her goofy self. Raven chuckled at the last thought as Lyla could always make her smile no matter what. Next to Lyla stood Bronx. He became very very close with Raven and they now considered themselves siblings by blood even thought they aren't. Raven smiled at this thought as she loved Bronx very much now their past rivalry just a broken memory.

"Now I would like to introduce to you... your new Beta. Raven! Come on out here Raven!" She could practically feel the shock radiating from Sasha, and the proudness from Zeus. She trotted our onto the top of the rock flexing her muscles a little to show off. "Thank you thank you everyone! I just wanted to say I couldn't have became the dog I am without any of you. Some more than others." Raven spoke avoiding Marteau's and Sasha's burning glaze. "I'm so happy to be the beta of this amazing pack. I hope I am able to make you all proud!" She steps off and is showered with all the congrats even Sasha.

Raven came upon the last dog who happened to be Marteau. She looked to the male waiting on his congrats as it would show a sign of respect. Zeus spoke up "Marteau don't you have something to say to your new beta?" The golden pondered for a moment as he looked around. Raven looked seeing Zuma in the corner of her eye ushering her two pups Acer and Nix into the den as she knew what was about to happen.

The golden stared Raven right in the eyes "no." And that's when all hell broke loose
