"Do you ever listen to me, Lindsey?" Stevie growled as she paced through her home.
"Yes, but I hear what I wanna hear," he smirked as he followed her. "And what I heard is that I get to shack up in bed with you, the night before the wedding. Maybe we can get a little midnight thrill before the big day--"
"Shut up, don't talk about that..." she gestured a finger sternly.
He put his hands up in defense.
"I really don't have the patience for you, tonight... Please," she turned to face him. "Go home and be with your wife and daughter so that I can prepare for our daughters to come. Okay? Can you do that for me?"
Melinda, their oldest daughter was getting married and Stevie had been helping prepare for it for months while Lindsey was there for love and emotional support. However, he was not present a lot due to his youngest daughter, Wren.
He had her while he was married to Stevie unbeknownst to him, but when results came back from his current wife, Lauren---Stevie divorced him. She was very hurt that he cheated on her and she didn't want anything to do with him even though she loved him so much.
But to the day, Stevie was so in love with him and him with her. They were just not going to make it work again. However, Stevie was putty in his hands and she let him get away with anything, even if she didn't want him to.
"I could... Do I want to? Not really, but if it makes you happy," he came forward and plastered a giant, sloppy kiss on her lips.
"You're so stupid," she wiped her lips off right after.
Sliding through the foyer, he turned and blew a kiss in her direction before heading out.
She crossed her arms and smirked to herself, shaking her head.
Just as she fell into some internal thoughts about her child's wedding, the phone rang.
Picking up the phone, she answered. "Hello?" placing a hand on her hip, she leaned against the kitchen counter.
"Hey, mom---" Drusilla, her younger daughter responded. "James and I our getting on the morning flight, right now, okay?"
Drusilla was five years younger than her other daughter. She went to school in England and she met a guy named James and they had been together ever since.
"Sure, Dru... I don't care when you get here, as long as you're here for the rehearsal dinner and actual wedding."
"Why do you sound grouchy?" she asked, softly. "I'm only checking in like you asked me to..."
"I'm sorry," she sighed. "Your father was here..."
"Go easy on him, mommy... He loves you still and he tries to get to you for attention. You know that. But why was he over?" she creased a brow. "You guys igniting old flames?"
"Yeah, no..." she chuckled sarcastically. "He came over because he got into a fight with his wife, so while he was here---I let him know the arrangements for the night before the wedding."
"Which are?" she lingered.
"Well, James and you will get your room... Your sister, hers. Dad and I---what used to be ours," she rolled her eyes. "And your grandparents and Chris and Lori will get the guest bedrooms."
"Sounds like a plan, but.. you and dad?" she asked.
"Well, I can manage sleeping in the same bed as him. We did it for years," she smirked. "We just have to pray I don't kill him in his sleep."
