My parents hated me, loathed me the moment I came out as gay. They would yell, push me, hit me, kick me, basically anything to hurt me. One night I packed a backpack full of my stuff and left. I was seventeen when I came out and once I turned eighteen they wouldn't let me leave. Five years I had to live with them and it was like living in a war zone not knowing what was gonna happen next or be said. Barely packed a thing, only small important things and left. First I jogged off with a beanie and hoodie on with some money in my backpack with little food. It was night time, dark and I walked not knowing where to go. Spent the night in an alleyway and got up the butt crack of dawn continuing to walk. Was walking down a busy road and realized that I was walking out of Texas into New Mexico. Then I made up my mind that I was going to California which would take days. As I was walking, a horn went off and I almost froze, but got onto the sidewalk.
"Watch where you're going!" They yelled as they sped off. Catching my breath I continued to walk. Went to the public bathroom and cleaned up the best I could. A dad gripped his son tight as he stared at me. So I walked out after I was done and sighed knowing that I looked like a mess. A few people stared at me or glanced at me as if I was filth. Crossing another road with barely anyone on it, I hadn't noticed the car that turned at the last minute onto the road. They honked and pressed on the brakes as I froze.
"Sorry." Said so that they could hear me. They nodded at me as I got on the sidewalk and they drove off. Twice I almost got run over. Couldn't see any of the drivers as it all happened so fast. Walked into a gas station store and looked at the food as I grabbed some water.
"Hey uh, sorry for almost running you over. I know you didn't see me turn onto the road." The guy walks up to me and I realize that the second person to almost run me over was Calum Hood.
"It's alright." Didn't know what else to say as I grabbed a sandwich. He walked to the cold drinks as I counted my money making sure I could afford the sandwich and water. So I bought them, put them into my backpack and walked out seeing who else was in his car as he walked up to it. It was all of 5sos in a jeep, laughing and smiling. Wish I had friends to do that with and a home.
"Hey boy!" Calum hurried up to me.
"Yes, Cal?" Asked and the look in his eyes, he knows I'm a fan.
"Take the money, you need it more than I do. Saw you counting your money and saw how little you have." He handed me $50 and I put it in my backpack.
"Thank you." He nodded and walked back to his car. Really need to work on getting rid of my southern accent.
