I'm looking at this man I haven't seen in about 18 years!

None of us has said anything for about five minutes. I hear Jacob clear his throat.

"I'm sorry October."

What?

"I'm sorry for leaving you the way we did. I shouldn't of listened to your mother."

"Ok first off if this is some kind of scam like Carol tried to play you can just piss off right now and I'm never seeing you again."

"What scam?"

"Carol said it was you who wanted to leave me.

Then when she found out who I was married to she decided to say she had cancer and was in all kinds of debit and needed money.

Come to find out no cancer no debit. She just wanted to fuck me over.

Oh and she sent Travis, your adopted son to find me. And date me and try to screw me over without actually screwing me. Thankfully."

"Ok that's not why I sent you the postcard. Like I said I've been wanting to do it for over a year. And she did what?!"

"So only the past year you wanted to see me? And yeah they had this big plan."

"I can't believe she stooped that low. And no I've been wanting to see you since we left you.

Carol never wanted me to find you. But since you are who you are now it was easier to find you.

Oh and congratulations."

"What did you mean by you shouldn't have listened to Carol?"

"When we said we were gonna adopt you a brother that was all true from me. I didn't know about Carol wanting to leave you until we were there."

"So Carol wanted to leave me? She said you did because you always wanted a boy."

"I didn't know anything about it until it was too late. I even wanted to adopt you back but she blackmailed me."

"Blackmailed you?"

"The company we both worked for at the time I found out your mom was the one embezzling money!

But she found away to hack into the computers so all the evidence was showing I was the one embezzling!

Your mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder."

Well that explains a lot.

"How do I even know what you're saying is even true?

I believed Carol and that was a huge mistake."

"After what she put you through I'm sure there's nothing I can say for you to believe me. And I honestly don't blame you.

Look into your mother's past a little bit more.

I'm in here for a couple more years. I've got nothing to gain from you but I did lose a lot when you were little.

Don't look up Carol Harris, look up Carolyn Franklin. That was her name before I met her and before she changed it."

I just shake my head.

Dominic and I stand up and leave.

We start driving back home.

"Are you ok baby?"

"I'm not sure. We need to call Michael when we get home."

"Agreed.

Are you hungry?"

"I hope by the time we get home I gain my appetite back. Cause that whole situation made me nauseous."

We get home and Blaze runs up to me. Dominic has trained him to not jump around me.

It's cute cause when I'm laying down Blaze will lay next to me putting his head on my belly.

"Hey you guys are back!"

"Smells good in here Jill."

"Oh thank you Dominic. I've got a homemade lasagne in the oven."

"Sounds good mom."

"Are you ok sweetie? What happened?"

Dominic leaves the room so we're alone.

"I don't know what to do mom."

"What happened?"

I tell my mom everything that happened with Jacob.

"I don't know what to do. I already trusted one parent that ended in a disaster.

It's like deep down I still care about them. And I hate that. I feel like I'm betraying you and dad."

"Honey, it's ok to care. They are your parents too. I understand that you are scared to get to know your father.

Like I said if you choose to get to know Jacob I'll support you. If you choose to not see him again, again I'll support you.

I love you October and I just want you to be happy. And to not stress about this."

She rubs my tummy lightly.

"Thank you, and I love you too mom."

She leans in and hugs me.

"Is everything ok in here?"

"Yeah you can come in Dominic."

"Ok good cause I'm really hungry."

My mom and I laugh.

"Actually since we've been home I've been starving too!"

"Let's go feed my grandbaby!"
