The ninjas all waited impatiently for Shadow to come back out from the burning building.

Nya then noticed a woman who was crying and walked over to her, "Why are you crying?"

The woman turned to Nya with tear-filled eyes, "My niece...She's not here..... I've looked everywhere and she is not here.....She's still in the building..."

Nya gave the woman a compassioned look, "I'm sure she's fine. One of my older brothers is currently in the building to make sure no one is still in there. Maybe he will find your niece."

The woman looked at Nya with big, hopeful eyes, "You really think so?"

"I'm sure he will. He has the best ninja senses out of all of us, if anyone can find her, it's him."

It was then Nya saw Shadow run out of the building with someone in his arms. The woman looked up and recognized the girl in his arms.

"Amy!" She stood up and ran to Shadow who was by the ambulance handing over the girl to the medical staff.

Nya ran to the others, "Shadow is okay! He came out running with this girl!"

The others stared at Nya and then they all made their way to where Shadow was.

He was sitting on a bench, trying to stabilize his breathing.

He had burn marks on his skin and was dusted in ashes. His tank top was sweaty and a bit wet on his chest from the girl crying.

Kai and Nya ran to their brother and crushed him into a hug.

"Don't ever do that again! You had us worried sick!" Nya cried.

Shadow hissed in pain making the siblings let go, it was then they saw the burns on his arms and legs.

"Are you okay, Shadow?" Kai asked, concerned.

"Yeah....I'm fine......I'm more worried about that girl....."

Shadow watched the medical staff getting the girl into the ambulance with the woman who Nya had talked to. The ambulance then drove off.

Shadow let out a sigh and stood up but his vision turned blurry and the world started spinning. His eyes closed and he fell o the ground.

"Shadow!"

Shadow groaned as he opened his eyes, blinking to get used of the bright light.

He let out another groan when he realizes he was in the hospital.

Realizing he had an oxygen mask on his face he took it off.

Sitting up he scanned around the room and saw Kai sitting on a chair, lost in thought.

"Kai?"

The brunette lifted his head and smiled at Shadow, "Glad to see you're awake. How are you?"

"Okay, I guess. Nothing hurts at least. But the burns sting a little."

"Well, they are healing. You're lucky they aren't going to be permanent."

"Well, that's a relief." Shadow sighed. "Where are the others?"

"They are on a mission. Nothing huge, just stopping a bank robbery. They said it was okay if I wanted to stay here with you."

"Oh, okay." Shadow sighed. "Have you heard anything about the survivors from the fire?"

Kai shook his head, "No. The only thing I've heard is that one old lady didn't survive. But from what I heard the others are currently stable. Why'd you ask?"
