"I couldn't just let you hurt my family, now could I?"

The ninjas jumped out of their surprise and eyed the male in front of Matt. He seemed tense and more so than usual for that matter.

"Shadow!? I thought you were resting!" Kai shouted at his brother, slightly annoyed that he hadn't gotten enough rest.

"Sorry bro, but I couldn't just leave you all at Matt's feet and let him hurt you." The black.haired twin turned to the male in front of him, "After all, he's my problem and not yours." Pushing Matt, forcing him to take a few steps back, Shadow let go of the male's fists, taking a step away from him. "You thought I was just gonna stand here while you bring destruction to the city, and here I thought you knew me."

"No, I knew you would show up. I was actually hoping you would." Matt smirked, "That way you would be able to see this." He gestured behind him to his left and two people that looked to be twins and at the same age as Shadow came out from an alley, dragging Amy with them. She looked unharmed, except for a bruise on her right cheek. When she spotted Shadow she started struggling and tried to get out of the twins' grip, but she was unable to do so. "Let me go you bastards!"

Feeling his blood boiling, Shadow turned to Matt, "Let. Her. Go. NOW!" His voice grew darker at the last sentence, his voice had grown softer when he became good, but now it sounded just like it did back when he was evil. The ninjas all recognized the voice as such and Kai was starting to panic, both by the memories and the fact that Shadow might get out of control if this continues.

Shaking his head, Matt chuckled, "No, I'm sorry to say this. But I need her to make sure you pay for all you've done to me."

"So you still hate me for that, I told you it was an accident, Matt. And she has nothing to do with it anyway, why drag her into it?"

"Don't you see. She started to have something to do with this when you started having feelings for her. But I still have to thank her, she distracted you so much that I got a chance to find out what happened to my father and who he was. But you knew who my father was from the beginning, didn't you!?"

"Yes, I did! I figured it out when you told me what you knew about him! But I didn't have the heart to tell you what happened to him! And I knew you would hate me if you knew I was the reason he's dead!" The last sentence surprised everyone except Matt and Shadow because they were the only ones who knew what was going on.

"Do you expect me to listen to your excuses and stop this! You know me better than that."

"Of course I do. Craziness runs in your blood after all so I didn't expect you to stop. You know what they say, like father like son."

Matt's eyes grew more intense, "How dare you say that about him!"

"I have every right to say that about him, he tortured me and almost killed me!"

Matt froze, surprise slowly making its way onto his face, "He...He what?"

"So you didn't know!? That fucker deserved to die, Matt, he had killed people and almost killed me! But if you stop now then maybe you don't have to suffer the same fate as he did."

Lowering his head, Matt looked like he was thinking it over, but then he started laughing. Lifting his head he met eyes with Shadow, "No, don't you see Shadow. It's too late for me to go back now, might as well keep up with what I'm doing or die in the process." He lit his hands on fire and charged at the fire master.

Shadow had not seen Matt attacking so soon and therefore he almost failed to doge in time, "Woah, calm down there Matt. Wouldn't wanna end up like Logan, now would you?" The smirk he had plastered on his face as the sentence left his mouth, was enough for the blue-eyed male to lose all other thoughts than the ones about destroying his former friend.
