Amy's POV

The boy stared at me with wide eyes.

I couldn't take my eyes off him. And judging by his expression, he couldn't take his eyes off me.

There was something familiar with his eyes, I just couldn't quite put my finger on it.

The silence stood between us and was only interrupted every now and then by a breeze blowing through the leaves on the trees.

None of us moved a muscle, it was almost like we couldn't.

After about five minutes, I found the words and forced them out of my mouth, "Who......Who are you?"

The boy looked slightly panicked and like he wanted to run away, but he didn't move.

I took a few steps forward and saw how he tensed.

"It's okay, I won't hurt you." I assured him but he didn't react.

Then he spoke, "I know you won't. I'm more afraid of me hurting you."

I stopped in my steps and stared at him with big eyes, "Why?"

His body relaxed a little and he turned his head away from me, "Because I already have hurt you."

I flinched and when he turned his head back to me and we locked eyes, that's when I realized where I had seen those gorgeous crimson eyes before.

"You......" I felt the words get stuck in my throat, "You.....You're the one who saved me from the fire!"

The look in his eyes confirmed my suspicion. He looked slightly happy, but also scared.

"Yeah, that was me.....You weren't supposed to know about it though. You weren't supposed to see me." He turned his back to me and stared out over the water.

I took a few steps towards him but he didn't react.

When I was just inches away from him, I placed a hand on his shoulder.

He jumped as soon as I touched him and I saw how he held back a scream.

The space between us grew as he took a few steps back, looking scared.

I held back a laugh, "I'm sorry for scaring you."

"No, it's just....." He paused, "I usually know when someone is near me but I couldn't sense you getting closer until you touched me. I just got surprised."

I giggled, "Oh, sorry for surprising you then."

He looked at me with a small smile, but I could see in his eyes that he was afraid of something.

I sat down on the ground and looked at the lake, the boy followed my lead and sat down next to me, but not too close.

"Your name is Amy, right?"

I looked at him and smiled, "Yepp. And what's yours?"

He looked at the ground for a moment before answering, "It's......Shadow."

I gasped, "You're Shadow!? As in the ninja Shadow!?"

He nodded, "Yeah, that's me. Don't tell anyone though. I'd like to keep a low profile."

I nodded in response, "Sure, I won't tell anyone. Your secret's safe with me."

Shadow turned his head to me and smiled, "Thanks."

I couldn't help but smile back, "No problem."

Silence fell between us once more, but this time it wasn't as unbearable as before, it actually felt nice, in a way.

I turned my head to the lake and saw a few fireflies starting to hover above it. "Look, fireflies!" I whisper-yelled excitedly.

Shadow chuckled at me and smiled, "Yeah, I can see that."

I stood up and leaned forward to get a closer look at them. Then suddenly I lost my balance and fell forward towards the water.

But in the last second, I felt something grab my wrist and stop me from hitting the water.

I looked up to see that it was Shadow. He pulled me back onto my feet and then let go of my wrist, "You should be more careful. Wouldn't want you to get wet, now do we?"

I turned my head towards him and for a quick moment, I saw something flash in his eyes.

Smiling in response, I shook my head, "No, I really would prefer not to get my clothes wet, same with my hair."

He smiled at me once more and then turned his head to the lake, then up towards the sky, "The stars are beautiful tonight."

I turned to the sky and saw the stars twinkle on the dark night sky, "Yeah, they really are."

We both let out a sigh that both had a hint of happiness embedded in them.

Turning our heads towards each other simultaneously, we locked eyes and the time around us seemed to stop for a moment.

I had never seen such gorgeous eyes before and I never wanted to forget them.

Felling my cheeks heat up and also seeing a slight hint of pink on Shadow's cheeks, I forced myself to turn my head away from those gorgeous crimson eyes.

He followed my example and looked the other way, clearly just as flustered as I was.

"I should probably head back home," I sighed, not bothering to hide my disappointment for having to leave.

Shadow sighed, a slight hint of disappointment in his sigh as well, "Yeah, that would probably be best. Don't want your aunt to worry, now do we?"

I turned my head to him and found him staring at me with kind and calming eyes. I shot him a smile, "See you around, I guess."

He smiled back, "Yeah, I hope so."

Shadow's POV

Amy turned around and started walking away.

But she suddenly stopped, and before I had time to react, she had run to me and wrapped her arms around me.

I was so surprised by it so I had to hold back a gasp.

Then she whispered into my ear, "Thank you.....for saving my life...."

A/N So, I noticed that all the other seasons are about eight chapters. *nervous laugh* This one might be a lot longer than that. I didn't realize that the plot for this season would be so long to write. So I'm left with two options. Either make a longer season or divide it into two seasons. If I go with the second option then I have to change the name of the season and the description of it as well, and you guys might have to wait longer for it to get done. But I'll let you guys decide. So what do you think?
