A fire's shadow

Comforting words

After Shadow had left, Kai put on the clothes Shadow had given him and then looked at himself in the mirror.

He was wearing a black jacket with a plain red shirt under it, skinny black jeans, and his favorite red sneakers.

"What would I do without a brother like him."

Kai grabbed his phone and wallet, putting them in his pocket.

He walked out of his room and to the living room where Lloyd was waiting.

He was wearing a green shirt, black jeans, and green sneakers.

Kai smiled at him, "You look great, greenie."

Lloyd blushed, "Thanks, you don't look so bad yourself, Handsome."

Kai chuckled, "I know what you're trying to do, but it won't work. Thanks to some pep talk from my brother, I am not worried one bit and therefore, you won't get a chance to make me flustered."

Time Skip

The two ninjas went to a restaurant at the edge of town. And they had both a great time.

Later they went to the edge of the forest where Kai had a secret spot to watch the moonlight.

They both sat down on the ground and stared at the moon, not saying anything to each other.

Then Lloyd broke the silence, "Kai?"

The red ninja turned to him, "Yeah?"

"Why do you love me?"

Kai chuckled, "Well, that's simple. You're strong, smart, positive, forgiving, kindhearted, brave, adorable. There is nothing not to love about you Lloyd. I love the way you sneeze like a kitten, the fact that you have a secret candy stash in your room, the way you pout your lips when you're annoyed, or the way your smile shine so bright that I swear it could light up the dark. And one of the things I love the most about you."

Kai turned his head to Lloyd and they locked eyes, "Is your eyes. They are so beautiful and spark like stars on the night sky."

Lloyd blushed deep red, "Kai...."

"Now, it's your turn. Why do you love me?"

"Well, you're strong, brave, determent, protective, kind, handsome. I love everything about you too. You always protect others and will stop at nothing to make sure they're safe. I love the way you smile, the way your eyes burn as bright as your spirit, the way you sometimes overreact to stuff and get overemotional over the smallest things. You're such a strong spirited person and that's what I love the most about you. You never let others push you down and always help others up."

Lloyd shuttered and Kai wrapped his jacket around the green ninja, "Thanks."

"No problem, Lloyd."

Kai moved closer to Lloyd and wrapped an arm around the green ninja, "I love you."

"I love you too."

Meanwhile

Shadow and the boy were sitting on the park bench eating of the crackers that Shadow had taken with him.

"So, you're telling me, that your favorite ice cream flavor is mint?" Shadow asked him.

"Yeah, it's my second favorite. My absolute favorite is vanilla."

"Really, so is mine. But my second favorite is strawberry."

"That's my third favorite."

Shadow laughed, "Okay, so now..." He thought for a moment, "How about, favorite time of day?"
