A/N this is a teaser consisting of small paragraphs/sentences from a few of the chapters of season five, "Fading". And some of them are from chapters near the end (I wasn't lying when I said I've already started writing it) but I've made sure there are no big spoilers regarding the overall story and any plot twists that might happen.

But the stranger didn't do anything, he just chuckled and then started walking to the door, giving the adults a death glare and a seemingly playful salute before exiting through the door.

He chuckled sadly and lowered his head a little, hiding his eyes from my view, "You know there isn't any reason to try, I can see it in your eyes, you want to say something to comfort me, but there are no words that can fix this. We both know it, and yet you refuse to accept it, I know you that well to know you would never give up on someone else. Well.....maybe it's time you gave up on at least one person......because there's nothing you can do to fix me, Kai....so why even try..."

Sighing, I turned over and started staring at the wall instead of the ceiling. My eyes wandered around my room until they landed on my phone. I haven't touched it since I got out of the hospital, it just hadn't crossed my mind before. I reached out my hand and grabbed the mobile. As I turned on the screen and was met with a photo. Frowning, I unlocked the phone and went to my gallery. I had a lot of pictures. But all of the latest ones were of either me and a boy I don't recognize or of just the boy. The latest one of them was from two weeks before the accident.

"I was out on a stroll when a heard shouting, so I decided to investigate. And when I saw that you seemed angry, I didn't want to risk you hitting me or something. After all, everyone knows not to mess with the red ninja when he's angry, same with Shadow."

The red ninja put up his hands defensively and took a step back from the barking animal. "Hey, easy there. I'm not going to hurt you."

She opened her mouth and was about to respond, but she then closed it, realization flowing onto her face, "He's been hiding something all this time?" She glanced over to where he disappeared, "And I never noticed."

Zane nodded and let go of the male, "I understand. Your mind took Kai's behavior as a sign of danger and you reacted accordingly. Although your reaction was a bit violent, it wasn't unusual." The red-haired male nodded slowly, although Zane could see he was not entirely calm.

"If that would be the case, I don't think Kai would be able to accept it. He would still be looking for him until he finds him, even if he never does. Although, the worst thing would be if we find Shadow.......and he's......" Lloyd didn't have to continue, they all knew what he was going to say and silently agreed.

After about an hour, the group reached the bottom of the mountain, which lead to the end of Jay's complains about his feet hurting or him being tired, much to the relief of the others. Joel had excused himself and disappeared towards his house, Lexy sprinting after him. The ninjas started walking back to their temporary residence, silence hanging between them.

Kai turned his gaze back towards Matt just as a fist connected with his chest, pushing him back and making him fall to the ground. A fireball hit his side and the ninja hissed in pain and his left-hand shoot towards the wound, holding his burned side. His opponent laughed, "You're pathetic Kai. And so are the other members of your so-called family."

Shadow flinched when he heard the word 'monster' but then his expression changed to one of anger and his hands tightened into fists. The air around the battlefield was starting to get warmer and Kai, who knew exactly what that meant, couldn't help but smirk. Matt had messed up now.

Her caramel-colored hair fell over her shoulders and her brown eyes stared at him with curiosity and confusion. She was wearing a simple grey t-shirt, black sweat pants, and black socks. Her right hand was holding the collar of the wolf-grey dog that had joined her with staring him down. A slight frown made its way onto her face as she opened her mouth to speak, "Who are you? And why are you here?"

When he turned around the red-haired male felt his blood run cold, the look in Kai's eyes was so twisted of grief and anger that it almost didn't look normal.

Slowly getting up he grabbed the device before sitting down on his bed. It was a message from Kai asking where he was. See, he's alive and so are the others. It was just a dream, just a dream.

It honestly didn't matter how much he told himself that, he knew that dream could be a reality before he'd be able to stop it, but for now, it was just a dream. A nightmare he can try to ignore so he doesn't seem suspicious.

The officer looked over at the still-standing male just as he violently flinched, which caused him to take about two steps forward, and glanced around, a terror visible in his eyes. It faded away slowly when he realized that whatever frightened him was nothing and changed to frustration as he clenched his fists before saying something himself.

"No!" The brunette snapped suddenly, surprising even himself. The officer flinched at the outburst, partly because the air around the ninja had gotten ten degrees warmer in less than a second, the heat disappearing as soon as Kai collected himself.

A/N So yeah, that's all you guys get, for now, other than the name of the book/season which is as I mentioned earlier, "Fading" the entire title being "A fire's shadow: Fading." I'll let you all know in this book when the next one is out (if I decide to release it, that depends on you guys), but for now, all I can say is that I hope you enjoyed the story so far.
