At first, the only response Shadow showed was his eyes widening. But then it was like someone flipped a switch in his head. His eyes flashed to blazing red and in less than a second he was standing up and landed a full force punch in Matt's stomach, making him fly back.

The ninja started walking forward and when Matt saw the look in his eyes he actually felt scared. He stood up and started backing away. He threw a fireball at the ninja but Shadow caught it with the palm of his hand. Clenching his fist together, he made the flame die out.

The black-haired male with blue eyes felt even more scared now and he threw another fireball that was blocked by a wall of fire. He threw another with the same result, and another, and another, he just kept throwing fireballs but all of them were blocked by another wall of fire and Shadow just kept getting closer and closer to the blue-eyed male.

The other ninjas stared at their team member and were all stunned by the sudden change in Shadow's behavior. Kai was the only one of the ninjas who truly saw the look in his brother's eyes, and to be honest, the brunette has never been so afraid of the other fire master as he was in this moment. Because now, the look in his twin's eyes showed nothing but an intense thirst for blood and death. And the way his fire powers seemed to work without him even moving his hands was just making the whole thing even more terrifying.

Shadow closed in towards Matt who was still trying to stop him but without any success. As the ninja got closer, the look in his eyes grew more intense and his shaky breaths were starting to sound like chuckles.

Kai forced himself up on his feet and then quickly opened his mouth, hoping he could find a way to help his brother who was clearly out of control. "Shadow! Stop this!" The out of control ninja stopped and turned his head towards his brother who took a step back when he saw the look in his eyes. That person......the one standing in the middle of the road.....that was not the brother that the red ninja had come to love.

No, this was someone else entirely. Someone who was out to kill, someone who didn't know what mercy was.....someone like the old Shadow.....

The brunette never thought it would ever happen, but the more he thought about it, the more he cursed himself for not seeing this sooner. Shadow's emotions have always been unstable, he has shown signs of this a few times before, but this was something new, but also similar to what happened back to when he was kidnapped. Before Logan captured him, there was a moment when Shadow's fire had turned black. And the red ninja knew that just like his eyes, Shadow's fire could change color if his emotions were powerful enough. Back then the emotions he had felt was a mixture of anger and fear as well as worry for the people around him, which had resulted in the black fire. But now, for every passing minute, his fire became redder and darker.

His rage was taking over him.

Gathering some courage, the red ninja took a few steps towards his brother, while trying not to show the amount of fear he felt at that time. The closer he got, the more that fear grew, mostly because he got closer and got a better look at just how unstable his brother was right now. "Shadow...talk to me....please....this isn't you....."

"HOw wOulD YoU KnOw!?" His voice was cracking and sometimes sounded deep and dark, much worse than back when he was evil.

"Because I'm your brother. I know a lot of things about you. Enough to know that you wouldn't want to kill anyone unless they really deserve it. And you still don't think Matt deserves that, right?"

Lowering his head, it appeared as though Kai had gotten through to his brother. But as his eyes flashed into the blazing red color with the sadistic glint that the red ninja knew all too well, he knew that was not the case. This was no longer Shadow in control, it was his dark side. The one he had told Kai about a long time ago, the part of him that the brunette thought was gone.
