Shadow and Amy spent the rest of the day together and when the night grew closer, Amy was starting to get tired so the ninja walked her home.

Shadow's POV

Amy and I walked towards the apartment building where she lived with her aunt and when we got there we both stopped and turned to each other.

"Thanks for comforting me earlier......" Amy smiled sadly.

I smiled back, "Anytime Kitty." I gently placed a kiss on her cheek and she blushed.

"I love you." She whispered.

"I love you too."

We shared a soft kiss and then Amy walked through the door and into the building.

Smiling wide, I sighed and started walking.

When passing an alley, a sudden chuckle made me stop dead in my tracks and turn my head towards the darkness.

Then Matt walked out of the darkness, wearing a seemingly forced smile on his face.

"Matt!?"

The red-eyed male smirked, "The one and only." He frowned, "What, had you already forgotten about your best friend?"

I shook my head, "No, it's just that, I haven't seen you around lately."

"Well, it's not a surprise really, you've been spending so much time with Amy."

"So you've seen me around then?"

Matt chuckled, "Yeah, I have."

"Sorry about that, buddy. I just wanted to spend some time with her that's all."

"It's okay, Shad. I understand." It was weird, the way he said the name as if it was poison on his tongue, what is going on?

"So, what have you been up to?"

He smirked, a small sadistic glint in his eyes that almost made me shiver, "I'll show you."

He started walking away, I stood still in my place, hesitant if I should follow him. There was something about the tone in his voice as well as the glint in his eyes that made me feel a bit uneasy.

After a few seconds of balling between following him or not, I decided to follow him. So I sprinted after him and slowed down once I caught up to him.

Time Skip

The whole walk was quiet, neither Matt or I said a thing to each other and the tension between us was thick enough to cut with a knife.

My mind was racing with a lot of thoughts while walking, most of them about Amy or Matt.

Could I really trust him, I know that we are friends, but he's always had this 'aura' around him, and it was not a good one for that matter. But ever since we started hanging out, his bad aura had grown worse and worse for every day. So my trust in him had grown thinner and thinner as time went by, but I stayed around him in case my instincts were wrong, because he is a fun guy to be around and I wouldn't want to ruin a cool friendship based on a bad feeling that may not be accurate.

I placed my hand in the pockets of my jacket and kept my head low, listening closely to Matt's footsteps and breathing. His breaths were short and fierce, proving he was upset about something, same with his steps.

My eyes scanned the way he was walking and I could see how he was walking with a fierce posture.

The bad feeling was slowly growing in my gut and I would be lying if I said that the thought about running back home instead of following Matt hadn't crossed my mind.

Suddenly Matt turned around a corner and walked into an alleyway. I hesitated before following him.

When I was a little bit away from him, I stopped and he turned to me. And that's when my blood ran cold.

The sadistic glint in his eyes that I noticed earlier was now fully visible and he was wearing a wicked smirk on his face.

I backed away about two steps and kept my guard up, "What's going on, Matt?" I said, a hint of annoyance in my voice that hid away the small hint of fear I was currently feeling.

An evil chuckle escaped his mouth and he smiled wickedly at me, "Oh, here I thought you were smart enough to know when something is up, don't you, Shadow?"

I held back a quiet gasp and instead growled as I glared daggers at him, "How'd you find out about that?!"

He laughed once more, "Well, after our last encounter I figured you were hiding something from me, so when I saw you on the beach with Amy the other day I couldn't help but eavesdrop on your little conversation, and boy did I find out a lot about my so-called best friend, things I really think you should have told me about long ago."

"I was afraid you would take it in a bad way, and I wasn't sure I could trust you."

"So Amy was a different story then?" He snapped slightly, a growl rumbling in his throat.

"Yes! She was! Because unlike you she gave me no reason to be worried about how'd she react."

"And why was that!?"

"She just didn't!"

"So you can't even explain why she didn't!?"

"Maybe I can, but why should I tell you?"

"Because I am your friend!"

"How should I know that's what we are! Because right now you seem more like an enemy to me than a friend!"

Matt flinched and for a moment I thought he had been hurt by the words, but then that moment passed and a wide, wicked smirk spread onto Matt's face and he let out an evil chuckle, "That's because I am your enemy."
