It can be too hot, even for a flame

The wind smashed at their faces as the ninjas rode their dragons towards the place where the villain had last been seen. They thought it would go pretty smooth, just deal with the bad guy and get back to the bounty. But when they got to the place where the villain had last been seen, that plan was thrown out the window.

Five, maybe six, buildings were burning with blue flames and there were even a few citizens stuck under things that had fallen.

But what made the ninjas all freeze in their tracks was the fact that a girl, about the age of seven, was lying motionless on the sidewalk to their right. Her skin was burned in many places and her clothes were torn and burned. Her black hair was messy with ash and blood staining it. Blood was trickling down her forehead and from a few places on her body where her skin had been cut, probably from trying to get to safety. But she hadn't got herself to safety in time. Her half-open ocean blue eyes were lifeless and cold.

She was dead. Her life was gone and nothing could bring her back and give her the chance to live her life.

Nya covered her mouth with her hands and began to cry, Lloyd, Jay, and Cole all teared up, Zane lowered his head. And Kai.....Kai was mad. He couldn't believe anyone could be so coldhearted that they would kill a child. His eyes were burning with anger and he was having a hard time not to let out a scream of fury.

Lloyd shook his head, snapping back to reality, "We have to help the injured...."

The others nodded sadly and got to work, all except Kai. His blood was boiling and he knew that if he made any movement he would end up punching someone or something, so he tried to stay still.

After helping a man out from one of the burning buildings, Lloyd noticed the red ninja not moving. "Kai! Help out instead of just standing there!"

Looking up towards Lloyd, the brunette felt his anger melt away and be replaced with worry and determination, he had to help these people so they don't end up like the little girl. He broke out into a sprint and bolted into one of the buildings, knowing he had the best chance of helping people out of the fire.

He noticed pretty quickly that the blue flames were warmer than his own usually were, also that he was less tolerant to these ones. But he ignored that and kept going. The people trapped in here. Kai was their last hope, their last chance of survival. None of the other ninjas had a chance of enduring this heat for more than five minutes, which wasn't enough time to get to the people stuck on the higher floors out.

It took more energy and determination to go through the four first buildings than Kai would like to admit. So as he was searching through the fifth building, he had since a while ago started feeling the heat taking its toll on him, but he had to keep going, he couldn't leave the people trapped in here. And despite the fact that he knew himself that he would probably not be able to save everyone he was still going to try. He had saved eight citizens, but if one died because he was too tired to save them, then all the lives he saved would no longer matter. One life lost was one too many and he was not going to let the number of deaths rise any more than it already had.

"Need....to keep....going...." At this point, he had to stop speaking after every other word he uttered just to take a breath in order to keep talking. It was like no matter how much air he breathed in, it was never enough to say more than two words.

Another person helped, another life saved. But he still wasn't done. And yet his body had already started to feel weak and his vision becoming blurry. Running into the building for the third time, Kai felt his legs starting to give out, but he pushed them to continue. As he reached the top floor, the last floor to check, he couldn't see more than two meters in front of him, anything past that distance was just a blur to him. But he kept going, he refused to give up now.
