PARKER
"You don't have any siblings?" She asks me.
"Nah. My parents didn't even want me." I chuckle. Then quickly I ask myself in why I just said any of that. "Sorry."
"It's okay. I'm sorry though." She says.
"It's all good. That's life, right?" I try and brush it off.
"I guess." She says.
"Hey, let's not let that ruin our night huh?" I ask.
"Okay." She smiles.
We finally arrive at the restaurant and we walk inside and as soon as I walk up to the host, he knows who I am and greets us with a smile.
"Ah Mr. Upton. Good evening." He smiles.
"Evening Mr. Matthews." I greet him back. "Is my table ready?" I ask.
"Yes it is." He says and grabs two menus then we start following towards the very back where it is more private and intimate.
People were looking at us and I know that they wanted to know who I was with as they are used to seeing me with different kinds of girls we'll say, rather it's in magazines, the internet or in person. The funny thing about this though is that I have never taken a girl here before. I always come here alone or with a friend.
After we are seated, she looks around and I notice a look of amazement on her face.
"So what do you think?" I ask her.
"It's nice. I've never been somewhere this fancy before." She comments before opening up her menu and taking a look at it.
"Yeah, I like it." I try and joke.
The waiter comes to take our order and brings us some wine.
"So, tell me about you." I begin to try and make a genuine effort to have an actual conversation to get to know her.
"Like what?" She asks.
"Anything. The whole point for tonight was to get to know each other more." I remind her.
"I thought it was to get to know you more?" She asks.
"Want me to go first?" I asked.
"Sure." She says as she sits back and waits.
"Alright then. My mother died when I was little. My father had tried raise me the best he knew how to, which was mostly leaving the raising to the maids and help. Then when I was a teenager, I became a model and did that for a few years before certain things happened and I was fired. I wasn't sure in what I was gonna do, so that's when my father started teaching me about his company and decided I take it over so it stays in the family." I laugh towards the end before taking a drink.
"So you're living your father's dream then?!" She asks.
"Well, I've always wanted to be my own boss." I tell her.
"But your dad still tells you what to do, huh?" She asks.
"Yeah well....Anyways, it's your turn." I change the subject.
"Okay. Well, both mine and Drake's parents aren't really on good terms with each other or with us for that matter. I used to be an assistant for someone that owned a company that manufactured a lot of the futuristic gadgets that have been coming out and who mostly sold it to google. Then I came here and now am working for you." She smirks.
"That's it?" I ask. "And wait a second, you never put on your resume that you were an assistant for anyone, let alone for someone who did that good of business." I look at her thinking as to why she never put that on her resume at all when that would be a great thing to put down.
"Oh well, it's no big deal. It wasn't the best job and although I was great at my job, my boss and I just didn't get along." She says as she takes a big gulp of her drink.
I can tell she didn't want to talk anymore about it. Although I was very curiously intrigued.
"Oh." Was all I said.
"How about you and Stan? What happened that caused you both to become enemies?" She asks me and I was hoping it wouldn't come up but, I guess that's fair to tell her.
"We had both started off in modeling together at the same time. We went to the same auditions and then soon, it would turn out to be where I was getting offered more money and jobs than him and he became jealous and accused me of doing it on purpose. So to get back at me, he decided to tell reporters and everyone that I took drugs to look the way I did and so I was finished. My modeling career was done, even though I tried to prove he was the one who used instead of me. But they took his words over mine, along with the needles he planted in my condo. To make matters worse, he also slept with my fiance." I finish as I down the rest of the wine in my glass and pour both her and I some more.
"Oh wow." She says.
I could tell she has the look of pity on her face but I really didn't want her to feel bad or nothing.
To be honest, I'm not even really sure in why or how I have felt comfortable enough to tell her all of that, but just something about being around her makes me feel at ease, if that makes sense. Nobody has ever made me feel this comfortable before.
Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
