3rd Pov:
Gray Tucker has always been an excellent liar, much better than any of his friends, even Carter. He had a good way of maintaining calm and an expressionless face when lying, so you wouldn't see that much of a difference from his usual demeanour. A lot of people believe he learned this from his dad, Craig, who has the same kind of initiative, but his parents always tried to prevent him from lying.
Gray just learned that most of the time, lying, got him what he needed and wanted. He didn't take advantage of this, only if necessary, on scenarios like Tweek asking him to clean his room and then him making an excuse up about him tutoring a kid at his school or something to get out of it. He didn't even think twice about it when he lied to his friends or teachers, why would he?
His friends were a little more caught up on how he works, sometimes, they could guess when he's lying. Especially the twins, who in practice aren't good at lying but can detect them really easily. He tried to avoid doing it to them in order to stop them from calling him out but the words would just, escape his mouth.
"My guinea pig ran away from her cage last night and I had to search for her all night to find her." He would state simply when his teacher would ask why he failed another math test.
But in general, Gray is pretty straightforward. If he feels like insulting someone, he wouldn't cover it up with lies.
He thumped his desk with his fist, after the teacher announced another spelling test was to be had today after lunch. He hated spelling, unlike that smart ass Katy, who loved practising how words are spelt. It feels as though she is constantly trying to rub salt in the wounds when she is boasting about her scores. He wished he could actually beat her academically speaking, but he couldn't be bothered to study. As the teacher dismissed them for lunch, Gray took his bag and followed his friends, who were chatting about Halloween, which was only two weeks away.
He was pretty excited too, well as much as he could be, but didn't want to talk about it. He wondered if he could remember all of the words for the spelling test in half an hour, how long lunch lasts. Or he could just leave school.
"Hey man, you OK?" Brody's voice brought him back to reality with a halt and he shrugged.
"You didn't study for the spelling test again, didn't you?" Kelsey sighed as she faced him. Again, only these two could sense when something is strange about him.
"Of course." Katy face palmed then stared at him "You have to try a little harder with school, y'know Gray?"
"Yeah? Well it's easy for you to say when you have a dad at home that insistently makes you study and learn." Gray snapped but Katy didn't look offended.
"I know that you are struggling with school, but it seems you're not even trying anymore."
"She's right dude, I don't want to nag or anything but, you're going to get in serious trouble with your parents and school if you keep this up." Kelsey agreed and gave him a sad smile. She usually took his side on this kind of things but Gray knew why she didn't this time around. They were right, they were all right. But he was too stubborn to admit that.
"Whatever." He muttered, then backed away, heading for the gate which was unlocked. Clearly, whoever was on the job didn't really care about it.
"Where are you going?" Tyler called after him and he stopped as he turned around to see them properly.
"I'm going home early, can I count on you guys to tell the teacher I was sick and got sent home or something?" He called back to them but walked closer to make sure he could be heard.
