3rd POV:

Being kids, none of them ever paid religion much thought.

I mean, technically speaking most of them were raised as either Christians or Catholics who were baptised at birth, with the exception of Katy who no-one really knew what to label her as seeing as she was raised with both Jewish and Christian customs. And, of course, there was Penny; the spawn of the son of Satan. Safe to say that she wasn't interested in religion at best and satanic at worst.

However, besides the weekly Church visit they all had to endure, nothing was ever really forced down their throats or anything. Their parents never enforced any hardcore rules that demanded to be followed. Especially Kyle, since he refused to transform into his mother and repeat her antics like a fucking parrot.

If you were to ask any of them about their opinion on religion or God or even Jesus, they would all have very different and varied responses:

"Who? Ah yes Jesus. Heard the big J is a wonderful lad. Lovely beard. Can make some bomb ass wine."

"No, I don't wear any sort of crucifixes in necklace form. I feel like God would have better fashion sense than that."

"Huh? 'Love thy neighbour'? What kinda hippie crap is this?"

"I forgot if Jesus was in the Bible or the Torah, what the hell is wrong with me?"

"God is dead and soon you will be too."

"This is my guinea pig. She is my God. Anyone else claiming to be a false prophet can fuck off and suck my dick."

"So uh, does Jesus have two dads or am I just tripping?"

Well, then again, the topic never really came up in a conversation. Surprise of the decade, eight year olds don't talk about religion or politics unless it's to poke fun at both of them. Most of them just knew one type of religion and were never really educated on anything else concerning cultures like Hinduism, Sikhism, Islamic etc. None of them even thought of the possibility that there may just be more than one God out there.

Well, Penny did but people barely ever listen to her.

One day, on a rainy Friday afternoon, all of them were huddled together at Katy's house for another sleepover. Carter wasn't there for once even though he would never miss an opportunity to pop in and throw an insult or two at them. His absence provided a wonderful, quiet atmosphere which was both peaceful and frustrating at the same time. At the start of the evening, all of them had been playing like normal, indoors to their annoyance, until boredom completely took over them.

Now they were just laying about in Katy's room. Some, literally laying on the floor head down. And by some, I mean Gray.

At first, they chatted about school and copying homework, the approach of Christmas which was exciting for everyone. Soon, the conversation had taken a more sinister turn because there are many ways in which these kids could be considered fucked up. Not because they had been witness to that many traumatic things but because that's just how they are.

"Y'all ever get that feeling where you want to 'disrupt the peace' of something?" Brody had started, stretching backwards on a purple bean bag located at the corner of the room "Like, I would be sitting at dinner and I would have this sudden urge to smash my plate or something against the ground to see everyone's reaction."

"I think that's a real, psychological thing." Katy responded, cracking her fingers to create some noise in the mostly silent bedroom "I'm pretty sure you just have an psychopathic mindset Brody."
