It all started in October, my best friend Nora started dating Grayson, my crush. At that time I didn't really mind, I almost never ever talked to him. The only time we spoke was when I was in band and he helped me carry my instrument since I was small and I said thank you.

That's the only time I ever talked to him. But now it's different. When they started dating it was a secret and all she talked about was him.

October

" He sent me the cutest message look!!" shrieked Nora while showing me her phone.

" Wow he LOVES you that's a big word," I chucked.

" Why do you laugh it's true you wouldn't know you don't like anyone you always say that," she said.

" It's true" I shrugged taking a bite of my apple.

     " Look there he comes!"

3rd person

Grayson and his friends finished lunch so they stood up and walked to the door. They passed Nora's table but Grayson instead of looking at his girlfriend he quickly glances at April.

In one quick look he takes the picture  in his mind of her hair, eyes, smile, he always shrugs it off.

April's POV

" Nora, how did he even ask you?"

" He started to text me, he just told me he has always loved me and he asked the question so I said yes." She explained.

" How do even do that you never talk are you just dating him to date?"

" You don't understand," she groaned.

     Present Day:

They broke up after that and then the Winter concert happened.

    December

" Hurry up! We have 5 minutes to be on the stage!!" I warned while adjusting my reed.

I ran downstairs and sat safely on my chair.

" I beat you!!" Said the Tenor sax.

" Shut up," I rolled my eyes. He was younger and annoying.

I took a deep breath and for the first time I looked ahead of me and saw the oboes, Grayson was staring at me, I hated this he never notice me until now because I wore a black dress. Plus he is my bff's ex.

I'll be honest I don't consider Nora to be the best friend we aren't like very close. I feel like she doesn't even know me.

After the morning concert I put away my sax and went to my locker, trying to avoid the teachers. There he was Grayson, to be honest I've had small tiny crushed and that was Grayson to me at the time. He was with his friends so I acted normally.

    " Hey April," he said.

I turned around and looked at him," yes?"

" Um there are no hard feelings about Nora with you right?"

" No," I said. I was always a quiet kid, I never spoke with people, I didn't curse I always had good grades and people respected me. And it was odd to speak.

" Ok good," he said and turned around.

" Wait Grayson," I interrupted I handed him a piece of paper, it was a old paper that was in my locker and I wanted to throw away." Happy birthday," I laughed and walked away.

He chuckled and rolled his eyes. I was walking up the stairs and saw him going down, his eyes met mine and I felt weird stuff inside of me, that was the first time, he slightly smiled at me, the part was that he was talking to someone but his eyes stayed on mine, it was a moment of peace and we were obviously flirting.

Present day

Over the summer I didn't think about him at all. But now that my section leader had left I have no friends so I find myself looking around a lot. I stare at him, well not stare but I look at him and I just started liking him.
