joy and betrayal

    " What's the matter?" Asked Grayson, his expression was so focused on me it was strange. Like a mom looking down at her son. But at least I felt cared for and important.

    " Nothing." I shook my head and came out of my thoughts.

   " Hey um I think I know what we're describing so um... Will you try it with me?"

   At that moment I felt uncontrollably happy, maybe a bit too happy.

   " I think I would love that!"

  He gave me a reassuring smile,"Ok  Then it's settled I'll walk you home tomorrow, but we might take a detour."

    " I'll be ready!"

   The smile on my face was so huge, and the butterflies in my stomach were flying everywhere and I don't think they'll go away soon.

  It made me feel way better that Grayson had that smile too.

   I was going on a date!!!

   " Let's take you home."

  We started walking in the now dark path. Only the tiny streetlights illuminated the street.

   " Hey Grayson, if we're going to try this or test it out I need you to take me seriously, if you want sex you won't get it soon and you better not use me. I'm a person and I want to be treated as such," I demanded.

    He smiled wider," You think I can't take you seriously I wish I couldn't and God knows that hurting you is the last thing I would ever want to do..."

   I blushed and smiled at the ground while still walking next to him.

   " Ok then you have good chances."

   " If I didn't I wouldn't give up until I did."

   That made my heart melt. I couldn't wait so I slipped my hand into his and tightly wrapped my fingers in between his and held it tightly. He smiled once again which made me smile. That smile Jesus I can't get enough of it.

  He grabbed my hand too and swung his arm back forth so it was going a bit slower than our pace.

    I think at that moment I could die happily. My life felt so full. For once I thought I could trust him.
 
   " Its a bit scary, thank you for walking me."

   " I will do anything to protect you if anyone hurts you I'll make sure they pay and don't ever doubt having me here for you."

   " Wow thank you Grayson I feel very safe in your strong capable hands."

   " It's a pleasure protecting you plus I get to spend time with you." He smirked.

   " Shut up." I rolled my eyes.

   We arrived at the door and Grayson pulled my hand and grabbed me between his arms to hug me and tightly.

   When we pulled away he spoke," I can't wait to see you tomorrow, sleep well. Take care and I'll see you for our date."

   " Alright walk back safely and see you tomorrow."

    " Ok good night."

   A date!

   I jingled my keys and opened the door.

  And oh god why was Andrew still in the kitchen.

   " What are you doing here!?!?"

    " What do you mean?"

   " Why didn't you leave?"

   " Because you wanted me to leave."

   I rolled my eyes.

   " Honey that was so rude of you to leave Andrew alone while you went out with that boy!" Scolded my mother.

   " It's not my problem he stayed I didn't even-" I stopped myself.

   " You didn't what?" Asked Andrew.

    " I didn't even invite you in the first place."

   " Apologize now April!!"

  " He should apologize too for being such a.... For being stupid!" I groaned.

  I went up the stairs and locked myself in my room. I hid under my covers and stopped myself from crying, not today.

   He knocked," You know I won't leave untill you let me in."

   I hesitated for a minute until I finally opened the door. I only talked through a small crack.

   " What do you want."

   " You're right and I'm so sorry." He begged.

   " Like you even mean it. Why did you do it in the first place and why didn't you tell me?!?" I said with my voice cracking.

    " Look April I wanted to but it was so hard I couldn't do it!"

   " No you listen! how did you let me get close to you and get hope and just do that to me?!"

   " You're right-"

  " Stop saying I'm right I know I'm right explain! Why didn't you stop me?!"

   " Because I like you!!" He said suddenly. My whole world froze.

   " What did you say?" I said with a softer tone.

   " I like you and I want to be with you." He confessed.

   " Its too late.... you hurt me already and you blew it. I can't trust you they're just words now they don't mean anything to me. I can't... Just no go with your girlfriend and stay away. Didn't you hear me after the beach I like Grayson I won't lie to you like you lied to me."

   He stood there speechless.

  " I'm sorry I hurt you so badly I never meant to and hopefully one day you forgive me."

   His words just made me mad. Why does he keep justifying what he did.

  " Please leave."

  He left and finally let me breathe and unleash all my tears of of both joy and betrayal.
