After school I walked home and tried to avoid all human contact. Today was the only day I didn't have band so I had to take out the most out of it.
" Mom! I'm home!!" I announced while throwing my bookbag on the floor.
" Hi April how was your day?" My mom was cooking something on the stove she didn't really seem to care.
" It was a normal Tuesday, uh mom can I go out I don't have homework?"
She stopped and looked at me with a face. " And where do you think you're going."
" I want ice cream and I want to go to the swings," I explained while avoiding eye contact and playing with my fingers.
" What type of 16 year old goes for ice cream and the park as fun?" She chuckled.
" Wow I thought you would appreciate im not on my phone so much like Eliza and Ivy."
" Fine fine you made your point, but don't go too far and don't come so late or else you're never going out again!"
" Ok ok I'mma go change."
I ran to my room and took out my comfort clothes.
I grabbed my bag and walked out. The sun was setting so it was the perfect time for a swing ride. I walked to a small park that was right around the corner of my house. Before getting there I went to the ice cream shop and bought myself a chocolate and Oreo cone.
To my surprise the park was completely empty and there weren't any annoying little kids. I walked across the basket ball court and sat on the swing facing the sunset.
I licked my ice cream and the sweet taste lingered on my tongue.
After like 5 minutes I heard a scream, " watch out!"
I turned around swiftly and I saw it before it hit me right in the face. I fell backwards and my back crashed on the pavement.
" Are you ok?!" Said the same voice.
I opened my eyes and saw a sweaty Grayson. I felt my cheeks turn red.
" Ugh I'm fine," I groaned while attempting to stand up.He held out his arm and I grabbed his hand and his muscular arm pulled me up, the veins in his arm showed.
I felt dizzy so I held on the pole of the the swings.
" I'm so sorry I was playing basketball but the ball flew away and it was going to hit you.." he said in his deep voice.
" No it's ok I get it," I said holding out my hand. I focused on a spot on the ground to keep my head from spinning. Then I saw my ice cream on the floor. "My ice cream you owe me one!!"
He chuckled, " Sorry for that can I at least but you another one right now?"
" Yes please..." He chuckled again.
" Where do you go?" He asked while we both started to walk.
" Oh right around the corner," I explained pointing to the end of the street." Ok good," we walked and he held the door for me to enter.
" Thanks," I mumbled. He nodded and went to the desk, " what do you want?"
" Surprise me!"
He chuckled again, " uh hi can I get two cones both with Oreo and moose tracks,"
" Moose tracks, I used to love that but they never had it how do they have it now" I said.
" I work magic," he shrugged. My heart beat faster but I was surprised how chill I was I wasn't being weird.
"Here," he handed me the cone.
" Thanks, so you play basketball?" I asked.
" Yeah and you sit on swings.."
" Wow already judging," I said sarcastically which again sent him into a chuckle.
" No no it's cool," he said.
" Sure."
After moments of silence we ate our cones.
" A peanut butter cup!!" We both said at the same time. We laughed and ate the tiny chocolate.
We ate in silence until we finished.
" Sorry again for everything," he said while looking at the floor.
" It's ok no hard feelings, thank you for the ice cream."
He waved and smiled then he was gone.
My heart beat faster did that really happen!
