It had been a week since Autumn had seen Tanner and she missed her wife like crazy.
"Is she in her office?"
"Yeah she's having lunch."
"We are going to discuss family matters, so no interruptions."
"Yes ma'am."
Autumn knocked on the door before pushing it open, Tanner was half asleep at her desk with a sandwich in hand.
"Hey."
"I'm sorry I'm a mess. You look uh absolutely lovely."
"We need to talk."
"Before you say anything I want you to know that I have been seeing my doctors and therapist. They've given me techniques to try to remember things better and my therapist is helping me break down what happened."
"It's my fault, Tanner, I said stuff that I didn't mean."
"It's okay, if you said it you meant it to some degree."
"This is just hard. I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize. I'm different."
They sat in silence for a few minutes before Tanner's demeanor hardened.
"Do I need a lawyer? I won't fight you over full custody of the girl's if you allow me weekends."
"Are you wanting to separate?"
"That's the last thing I want."
"You are just giving up fast."
"Now you know how it feels."
Tanner walked through the front door with a smile.
"Momma!"
Danny was like a 5 year old wrapping her arms around Tanner.
"I've missed you, kid. Where's Mac?"
"Getting ready for the game."
"Are you going?"
"I'm not ready to go by myself."
"Sweetheart if you want to go I'll go with you."
"Really?"
"Of course go get ready."
Tanner placed a kiss on the girl's forehead before watching her climb the stairs.
She stepped into the kitchen to find her wife on the phone with her back turned towards her.
The tattooed arms wrapped around her wife's waist planting her lips on her jawline.
"I've got to go."
Autumn hung up the phone before kissing her lips.
"I'm so glad you're back."
"Me, too. I love you."
Autumn kiss her again with a smile.
"I love you so much."
"I'm taking Danny to the game, you going, love?"
"I think she needs time with just you and I have to pick up Jas soon."
"Alright. Me, you tonight in bed."
Tanner smirked at her wife as she softly laughed.
"It's a date."
"Good."
Danny sat on the couch in Mac practice jersey, ready to go.
The car ride was silent as the music could barely be heard.
As they walked towards the bleachers Danny's arms were locked around the tattooed girl's right arm.
"Princess no one will hurt you, when you're with me."
"I know I'm just nervous."
Tanner placed her left hand on the girl's arm.
"I got you, kid."
"Can we sit at the top I want to see everyone?"
"The tops my favorite."
"Ew."
Tanner laughed as they climbed the bleachers getting looks from students and parents.
Even when they sat down Danny held on to Tanner like she'd float away.
The game had started but Tanner wasn't watching, she was watching the people around them. Some would whisper and glance back others would just stare.
Danny waited for the bleachers to clear before standing to meet Mac outside of the locker room.
"Hey babe, I told you, you didn't have to come if you weren't ready."
Danny clung on to the football player as Mac kissed her temple.
Small tears escaped Danny's eyes as Mac held her tighter.
"I wanted to try, you did so good."
Danny kissed her lips not letting go of her arm.
"I stayed for the whole game this time."
"I'm so proud of you."
Tanner watched the silent tears that left Mac's eyes as she held the girl.
She quickly decided that Mac looked broken.
