It'll Never Be The Same

Hotch's POV

I sit silently in the conference room with Derek and Reid. We just got home after finishing the case. I look from Reid to Morgan and back to Reid. I see disappointment in Derek's eyes and embarrassment in Reid's.

"Derek. You knew we had a compromised agent in the field and you told no one. You put everyone jeopardy. Legally and physically. What if Reid shot an innocent person because he was high? Do you know how bad that would? Do you?" I look at him with anger in my eyes.

"Hotch..." Reid started before I cut him off.

"No I will get to you in a minute." I look at Derek. "Derek, what you did was stupid. You should have told me before it got this far. I have no other option. I have to suspend you. 2 week without pay. When you get back you'll be on probation. Well talk about what that looks like later. You can go now." I say. I wait until he walks out then looks over at Reid.

"I am pissed at you Reid. Why would you do this. Why would you jeopardize your job for drugs?" I look at him while he continues to sit there silently.

"Answer me!" I yell out. I see him flinch and put his head down. I instantly regretted yelling at him.

"I... I uh.. I don't know." He cries out.

"I'm sorry I yelled, but Reid you are making this difficult. I can't have a compromised agent in the field. Last time I let this slide. I swept it under the rug and didn't tell the higher ups. I can't do that again. I also can't let you stay here. The chef wanted to fire you, but I talked him into a compromise. Before you're allowed back here you have to finish a 30 day inpatient rehab program then a 30 outpatient program. It's the only way to keep your job." I tell him.

"30 days inpatient? Really? I don't have the money for that." Reid cried out.

"The Bureau will pay for it. Again its the only way to keep your badge." I explained.

"And if I don't?"

"Then I keep your badge." I said getting up and leaving him alone in the conference room.
