Aryl's POV
As soon as I reached our house, I suddenly felt the strange feeling within me. I don't know if that was fear or just a plain sadness that was coated my heart.
I accepted all the hatred and physical pain from her because I know I deserved all the pain. I deserve this because I killed him.
I killed the only man she loved.
"Haven't I told you that you should be here before I arrive and finish all the chores by yourself! But here you are! Flirting and rebelling!" she shouted with her lungs while the eyes of all the maids are in us.
"M-mom... Mom please," I mumbled and the tears from her eyes are proof that she was angry.
I sighed in defeat and accept it while looking at the man who was laughing as he was watching us like a comedy movie.
He walks towards us and smiles at me devilishly, "Oh! The little Cinderella!"
I looked at him with annoyance that makes him laugh more. " The little Cinderella was fuming mad at me!"
I closed my eyes as I felt that someone grab my hair and drag it to the floor as my face violent rub to it.
"Stop glaring at your Uncle Rommel or else..." she shouted as she was dragging my hair.
I just looked at other direction and I saw how our maids wanted to help me but I smiled at them reassured.
But I harshly closed my eyes as she drags my hair to the living room's center that causes me to flop on the floor."You little whore! Where did you go? Why are you late?"
"Mom as I said, I talked to Miss Arabella regarding my grades," I said as my eyes are droopy.
I don't know if it is just me or Uncle Rommel is really giving me an embarrassment.
His cheeks were lifted from ear to ear as if he was watching a humorous movie and the main character is me.
I sighed in defeat as I felt again her strong hands that are uprooting my hair. "You think I will believe you! Your Uncle just saw you having chitchat with Tristan!"
I was caught off guard and looked at Uncle Rommel that was merely laughing at our side but acted to zip his mouth when he saw me looking at him.
"I don't know what you're saying. I was talking to Miss Arabelle all the time!" I am looking at our carpeted floor, trying to avoid ger blazing glares.
"Yes, she was telling the truth. I was talking to her due to some matters about her cards," a woman voice filled the whole living room as the main door opens and releases a lady with her mid-twenties.
I saw how my mom's jaw dropped as she watches Miss Arabella sit comfortably to our sofa. "Miss Arabella, what brought you here?"
My heart begun to pound fast out of my chest and barely glanced at Miss Arabella hoping that she will not speak out my academic problems.
She silently tooked something from her bag and handed me the brown envelope she was holding. My brows frowned as I glanced at the envelope I was holding and her.
Her cheekbones lifted high as she looked at my Mom who has left no idea for what is happening.
"Aryl Torres will be our school's representative for a science quiz club this upcoming week. And I am personally going to your mansion to say this and to formally ask for your permission because Miss Torres and I will have our stay at the venue," she said as she smiled at me ear to ear as I gasped for air with disbelief in my eyes.
I saw her give me a wink and smiled back at my mom.
How can I join to that prestigious academic contest if I am failing my school capabilities?
Should I receive it?
How can I win if I am a loser after all?
How can I get that award if I can't be on top?
I snapped my head as I walked to my teacher that was intently watching me. "Miss, are you sure about this?"
She was smiling ear to ear and held my hands as she glanced at my mom, "Mrs. Torres, I think I should talked to Aryl about this matter."
My mom quickly nodded as she looked at me with a glimpse of proudness in her and leave our living room and grab Uncle Rommel's arms to follow her.
When my mom is out of our site, I rashly looked at Miss Arabella whose still watching me with her cheekbones uplift.
"Miss, I'm sorry to say this but you know my performance in school, right? I am not good. I will just give our school a bad record and I don't want it to happen," I simply said as I looked down on the floor with my burning cheeks.
My hands were trembling and sweaty as she holds it and gently uplifts my head to meet her eye, "Aryl you are good. You are just lacking it because of your problems." she said as she never leaves my eyes for our eye contact.
"You need to prove them wrong! You are not the killer," she said while trying to uplift my head but I reject it.
"They are right. If I follow his order, he might survive." My eyes are now shedded with tears as I tightly held her hands.
"Aryl, you are not like that! I am your adviser and I care for you," she said as I looked at her with disbelief.
I looked at her with unedifying terror are in me. "Miss, I'm sorry but I think I will reject that big opportunity of yours. I can't win. I can't fight for our school because I can't give my assurance of winning."
I saw anger in her eyes."No! I already listed you to join in that event and you can't do anything about that!" she yelled in the top of her lungs and stormed out from our mansion.
"How can I bring the pride if in the first place I am the loser?"
