The morning came faster than Sera had intended it to as the light from the golden sun shined rays into Orion's bedroom. She stirred in the bed, her body entangling in the dark sheets as she tried to shield herself away from the brightness that came from the window. A groan emitted from her throat as she dreaded waking up, exhaustion consuming her with the lack of sleep she had running through her system.
But then like a freight train, everything hit her all at once of what had happened the night prior, or just a mere few hours ago when the thought of Orion crossed her mind. She remembered the race and the bet Jonah had made, the ride back to Ricky's place, and then the uneventful non-existent kiss Sera had wished she had. She groaned again as she buried her face into one of the pillows, mad and embarrassed at herself for the decisions she had made.
Sera dreaded getting out of bed to be met with the face of Orion this morning as all she wanted to do was escape this nightmare she was living. She didn't want to have that awkward run-in conversation or have to sit in silence on the ride home. All she wanted was to be working at Dolphin Cove to let her mind forget the memories of the last twelve hours.
Her hazel eyes slowly began to open as she regretted it almost immediately, the sun being anything but welcoming as she reached for her phone on the bedside table. Immediately her screen revealed dozens of missed calls and text messages, all she willfully ignored since she wasn't happy with anything that occurred at the track.
The first person to pop up was Jonah, most of the text messages coming from him and his multiple apologies for what had happened. Sera rolled her eyes almost immediately, not willing to forgive the man just yet as she ignored his messages and moved on to the ones from Presley.
Presley
12:22am Sera where are you?
12:49am Listen if you're with him just tell me. They want to call the cops.
1:02am You're so lucky I got your back. I told them you're home and that you don't want to be bothered. Just please get back to me when you see this.
Sera
8:04am I'm safe. I slept over at his uncle's place. Thank you for covering for me. I'll be home soon.
Lastly, there were messages from both Kaleia and Cherry, both of worry and concern but soon turned to sympathy once Presley had given them the lie that Sera was home. Sera wished she didn't have to lie to everyone, but she knew it was for the best for herself and Orion. As much as she didn't want to be near him at the moment, it didn't stop her from caring any less.
Clicking her phone off, she was then met with the sound of clattering pots and pans signaling someone else was up. Her heart began to race with anxiety with the thought of facing anyone this morning especially in the mental state she was in. But with the small amount of will power she had within herself to get out of bed, she rolled out, the sheets revealing her bare legs but still dressed in her comfortable hoodie as she got out.
