As a young girl, Seraphina Gray Rossi packed up her things at eleven years old to move to a small town on the big island called, Haleiwa, Hawaii. With parents as well respected marine biologists who specialized in the species of bottlenose dolphins...

"Yeah, we're pulling in now. My jeep. Alright, see you in a few."
With a light-washed denim jacket draped over her shoulders, Sera drove Cherry's jeep to the abandoned road outside of town. Already they could hear the heavy bass and the sound of engines revving as men and women were showing off their cars to the people who came to watch. As they got closer, the brighter it became in the darkness of the night, all the light coming from the cars' headlights that lit up the road.
Sera chewed on her gum in her mouth, blowing bubbles from time to time until she pulled onto the side of the road, a bit further back from the commotion, putting Cherry's car into park. Revving the engine off, she took the keys and placed them into the chest pocket of her ripped up denim jacket before looking over at Cherry who was cleaning up her already red smudged lipstick.
"I told you putting red on was a bad idea." Sera reminded her as Kaleia poked her head forward and agreed with the blonde.
"I mean if I hook up with someone it's gonna get messed up either way so fuck it," Cherry said with the shrug of her shoulders before pushing the passenger door open and hoping down onto the uneven terrain.
Sera huffed at her best friend as both the girls still in the car chuckled before getting out and following the redhead who had a slight wobble to her step. Already tipsy from the flask of fireball she had in her car, Cherry let her confidence flourish as she led the way, the girls closely behind slightly tense until they spotted Jonah and Presley.
Kaleia and Sera smiled in relief as the boys came jogging over, both dressed in white t-shirts and jeans, almost as if they planned to match for the night. They wore the same smiles as they got up to the girls, Jonah throwing his arm over Sera as Presley took on Kaleia and Cherry.
"Finally you guys got here. It's starting in five." Jonah said as he winked at Sera as she rolled her eyes and shoved him away. "Come on, S. Let Jonah get some loving."
"In your dreams, Evans," Sera replied as she moved to stand beside Cherry as Jonah put on a fake frown.
"Desperation isn't a cute look, J," Cherry added as the girls and Presley laughed at her comment.
Walking together as if they were pack, the Jonah led the group as Presley took the back, keeping the girls between them as they pushed through hundreds of bodies that were lined up at the beginning of the track. Girls and boys alike all were lined up, betting on which car was going to win today's race. It was winner take all tonight; something Koa always set up for the first race of the season.
As they pushed through, Sera noticed the number of older men that lingered in the crowds, many of their eyes preying on the young girls in the area. It was obvious what they wanted, but if you were smart, you came with your group of guys to back you up. Never attend these events by yourself, even if it is unfair.
Once through the crowd, Jonah led the girls over to where the platinum blonde race leader was, Koa standing proudly on the back of his all-black pick-up truck. He held a bottle of Corona in his hand as he had his other arm wrapped around a brunette that stood beside him, hanging on like a leech as her lips were pressed against his scrawny neck.
