Twenty One

An hour after devouring their slices of greasy pizza that left their stomachs churning with delight and regret, Sera and Orion found themselves engrossed in the game booths, trying their best to win as many stuffed animals as possible. Neither of them wanted the cheap plush toys, but nonetheless they couldn't help the rush it gave them when they'd win a small panda or a bouncy ball that would pop in less than a day. It left smiles on their faces as they'd walk from booth to booth, each time carrying a new stuff animal they'd name as if it were one of their children.

Carry three stuffed animals each, it had come to the point where they'd give them out to the children who wouldn't win at the booths they'd be at. They had no use for them, but they knew the children would. But soon enough, it left them with one, a tiny pink dolphin that Orion had won at the fishpond booth.

"I think you'd be a giant hypocrite if you gave that one away." Orion confessed, tossing a piece of popcorn into his mouth as they walked over to another booth. "The dolphins would shame you for weeks."

Sera rolled her eyes, giving him a playful shove as she put the dolphin comfortably in the inner pocket of Orion's denim jacket that he'd lent to her as the night grew colder. "Alright, I get it. I'm dolphin girl."

"I'm glad you're finally accepting your fate." He winked as he pulled out the long row of tickets he had stashed in his pockets, handing two to the booth owner so both him and Sera could have a go at their game.

Once paid for, the pair were given three darts each to pop the balloons placed on a wall ten feet away from them. With a giant grin on her face after enjoying the night thus far, Sera threw her first dart, landing one of the yellow balloons, causing a satisfying pop to ring her ears.

While cheering to herself, Sera watched on as Orion took his first throw at the balloons, exploding a blue one with ease. He rolled his brown orbs at Sera and her little dance as she cheered him on as well before handing her one of the four darts left.

It wasn't long until all the darts were gone and stuck in the black-cork-board wall with their popped balloons. Each got to choose their own toy after landing all six, Sera choosing the sea turtle and Orion opting for the small gator. But as soon as they left those toys were no longer their own as they quickly handed them off to children, making both their day's and the parents'.

"Where to next?" Sera asked as she held onto the popcorn, finishing the little bit that rested at the bottom of the cup before tossing it into a recycling bin.

"C'mon. It's time to put your driving skills to the test." Orion said while grabbing ahold of Sera's buttery hand, intertwining it with his before guiding her towards one of his favorite rides.

She kept a smile on her face, enjoying the touch of Orion as her hand melted into his own, a wave of contentment washing over her as it was evident on her face. She liked him holding her hand; the way his rough hands would gently hold onto hers as if it would break as much as it defied his hard exterior.

But she didn't want to feel that way knowing the consequences or lack of when it came to this one person. She knew where his feelings lied with her own, non-existent. Sera even herself didn't know where her feelings were in-regards-to Orion as it all left her a mess, not a hot mess, just a giant mess. It felt as if her feelings had risen overnight ever since she attempted to kiss him and since then they've only grown stronger.
