Chapter 27

Madi's POV

~One week later~

Back to school. Just what I've been waiting for. Not. I bet I know exactly what will happen. Everyone will stare at us all day, but not care enough to ask what happened. Then, Brooke will make a ton of crude remarks. The usual.

I decide to just wear a sweater, some jeans, and some converse. There's no use in dressing up. Allie, Shawn, and I get in the car and drive to school without a word.

The first five minutes of lunch, no one says anything. We just don't know what to talk about. Finally, Liam arrives and comes to sit with us.

"Hey." he smiles.

"Hi." I smile back and hug him.

"Hey." Allie and Shawn greet him.

"So how's college?" Allie asks after a while.

"Well, it's just like how you think it is. It sucks." he laughs.

"Well now I'm so excited to go there next year." I say, sarcasm clear in my voice.

A group of girls walk over to our table. Girls I'd never seen before.

"Are you guys okay? What happened?" one of the girls asks.

"We um... got in a car accident." I say timidly. I really don't want to have to talk about this, and I bet everyone else feels the same way.

"Oh my god. No offense, but you guys look terrible. Like it could've been a really bad accident." another girl says.

"Well, thanks." Allie rolls her eyes.

The two other girls are just staring in complete shock. God, I didn't think we looked that bad for just getting out of the hospital. Maybe we don't. Maybe they're just staring at Liam and Shawn. Figures.

"Can we sit with you guys?" one girl asks.

"Sure." Shawn says. Two girls sit next to Liam and I, and the other two sit next to Shawn and Allie.

This blonde chick sitting next to Liam is kind of getting on my nerves. You know that feeling when you just hate someone. You don't really know why, but their presence just really irritates you.

Oh now I know why. She's flirting with my boyfriend. Thankfully, Liam is not enjoying it in the least bit.

"Help me." he mouthed to me.

I check the time. Lunch is over in two minutes.

"Liam should probably get going. Don't wanna be late for your classes." I smile.

Allie and Shawn just give me a 'what are you doing?' look, and I give them a 'this girl is irritating and I'm trying to get rid of her.' look.

Liam and I hug and he kisses my forehead before he waves to Allie and Shawn and walks off. I sit back down and just give that girl a 'he's my boyfriend, see? so back off.' look. She rolls her eyes and walks off. That's what I thought.

"Well, we're gonna get going. Hope you guys get well soon." one girl says as the rest of them walk off.

"Someone was getting jealous." Allie smirks.

"What? Nuh-uh." I say as my cheeks flare.

"Okayy... Whatever you say." she grins.

I roll my eyes and try not to smile as I walk to my next class. I wasn't jealous. I was just.... envious? No. Well, maybe. I mean, she was kinda pretty. And she was probably smart and funny, and nice. Better girlfriend material than me. Whatever, it doesn't matter. I should probably just focus on geometry.
