It Should Have Been You

The fire. That's what started all of this. One faulty electrical outlet killed him...

They were all emotionally distraught at the loss of their friend, but Logan was hit the worst. Losing his boyfriend really took a toll on him and he could no longer hide his feelings. He cried and cried, and for weeks the others barely saw him. He spent most of his days in his room, mourning the death of his love, his Patton.

Roman and Virgil worried about Logan. He wasn't eating very much and who knows how much sleep he was getting. They tried to check up on him but he would tell them to go away, his throat sore from crying.

"I'm going to bring him up some ice cream, maybe we could watch a movie if he doesn't want to talk" Roman suggested after not seeing Logan for 2 days straight. Virgil nodded "Sounds like a good plan, I'll be in my room if you need me"

Roman knocked on Logan's door. "Hey, I brought ice cream, would you like to talk?"

"No, go away"

Roman waited a sec. "Want to watch a movie? It might take your mind off this for a bit."

The door opened, and Logan was fuming. His eyes were red and puffy from crying, his face red with anger. "You don't even care, do you? You don't care that he's dead!!"

Roman was taken aback "Wha- no! I cared about him so, so much!"

"I don't see you upset at all! You don't care that he's gone! This isn't a fairytale, Princey! He's gone forever, he won't come back, don't you get that!" a tear rolled down his face, his breath getting heavier, and he looked at his feet.

Roman took a sec, responding quietly. "I cared so much, and just because I don't show it doesn't mean that I'm not upset."

Logan looked up. "It should have been you in that fire, not Patton. Patton was pure and innocent. He was amazing in everything he did and he cared so much! Not you, you don't care at all. We would get over your death, but Virgil and I will NEVER get over this!"

Romans' cheeks shinned with tears, and as he looked at Logan he turned to leave. He took a step, then stopped. He swiftly turned, and punched Logan in the jaw before turning back and leaving.

Logan fell to the ground, holding his cheek where Roman socked him. As soon as Roman was out of sight and he heard him close the door to his room, he got up and went to Virgil's room, tears pouring down his face from physical and emotional pain.

He knocked, and Virgil opened the door almost immediately. "Are you okay?!" he asked, shocked at the bruise that had already appeared on Logan's cheek.

Without a word Logan pulled Virgil into a hug, crying into his shoulder.

Virgil was a little shocked, but he quickly pulled Logan closer.

Logan calmed down enough to go sit on the bed, where Virgil comforted him all night.

Roman was in his room, sitting on his bed, looking at his lap. He was thinking about what had happened and was ashamed of what he did. He was hurt by what Logan had said but also felt bad for him.  He had been through so much, and was upset, so what did I do? I punched him!

He stood up suddenly, deciding on the spot to go to Logan and apologize.

He knocked on Logan's door, no response. He opened it a crack and saw he wasn't in there. Weird, maybe he's just with Virgil. He walked down the hall and knocked on Virgil's door. There was a shifting of feet before the door opened, a confused Virgil standing there. "Is Logan with you?"

"He was, but apparently he left" Virgil responded, not having noticed Logans absence until Roman woke him up. "He might be in his own bed"

Roman shook his head "I just looked, he's not in his room"

Virgil began to panic a bit, seeing Romans scared look. "We need to find him"

Roman nodded "I'll look upstairs, you look downstairs." With a quick nod, they split up, Roman looking in Logan's room again and Virgil looking in the living room.

Roman had no luck in Logan's room, and decided to check Patton's. He opened it cautiously, having not been in it since he passed.

His stomach dropped at the sight. Logan's body lay on the ground, a gun in one hand and a note in the other. Roman fell to the ground, tears running down his face as he reached for the note.

Roman, it shouldn't have been you, it should have been me. Don't worry though, I'm with my love now. Please don't cry though, I'm happy now.

Virgil, thank you for comforting me and being not only a friend but family. You helped me, but don't be afraid to ask for help from others. No one can be okay all the time.

You two are the best family I could ask for, so thank you for always putting up with me.

Sincerely, Logan
