Waking up in a warm, soft bed was liked heaven. Not only because a few hours before I got back I was sleeping in a springy bed pushed into the corner of a cell but also because I felt like everything was going to be okay while I laid in that bed. I felt like I could figure this out. I would help Zachariah with his rebellion, get rid of Seth, finish Tyson's transformation, and be with Tyson. I loved him and we were the perfect match. Literally.

He was ruthless where I countered by being calm and collected for him. I wanted to be free where he could hold out longer than me and withstand the pull. We were meant for each other whether I would admit it or not.

A wave of confusion swept over me when I stretched and I felt that the bed beside me was empty. I sat up, throwing the covers off the bed in my haste. Nobody.

Tyson's sleeping figure wasn't lying beside me on the bed. He wasn't standing around the room anywhere. He was nowhere.

I jumped off the bed and instantly tripped, hitting a solid something and getting a major rug burn on my elbows that were thrown out, instinctively, to catch myself. I groaned, rolling on my back and propping up on my now sore elbows.

Tyson rolled out from under the covers and looked around, seeming surprised.

He stood up quickly and held out a hand to help me up. I instantly took it and brushed off myself, watching Tyson. He seemed different as he folded up the blankets and replaced his pillow on the bed. To me, he seemed less colorful. He would always have emotion in his eyes that seemed to make them sparkle but he didn't have the and it kind of scared me. Like I might lose him too.

"What?" Tyson asked, folding his arms tightly around his chest, the white bandages stood out against his dark skin.

"I-um...nothing," I said, blinking. Change of subject, "Why were you on the floor?" Tyson shrugged, swaying in position like he needed to be somewhere.

"No reason," he said, "I'm hungry," I let it go even though I knew he was just trying to distract me. Everything inside of me was telling me to push it further, like I needed to know something.

"Okay, I'll take you to the kitchen," I walked out of the room and turned towards the kitchen. It was silent the way there. An awkward type of silent. Whenever me and Tyson were around each other we were never awkward. Even if we just made a total fool of ourselves, like the time I told him a horrible joke and it went silent, we were still never awkward, we just laughed it off. So the feeling was definitely new. I opened the kitchen door, a little surprised when I walked into a room full of laughing vampires. They went on with their day, not seeming to pay any attention to us, like we were invisible. I couldn't help but think of the rebellion. Even though they were a little awkward when I first met them I liked it better than being totally ignored.

I looked back at Tyson, the kitchen light casting and eerie glow over his features, sharpening them to make him look even more handsome. His eyes were running up and down the food set out all over the counter, his eyes betrayed a look of pure longing. "Go ahead," I said, gesturing my arm towards the food. He only glanced at me and then raced over to the food, already sorting through the ones he wanted. Grabbing a chip bag, I leaned against the counter, lost in thought. What was up with Tyson? I made it my mental goal to figure out what was up before tonight. Maybe tonight would go good and maybe it would turn out to be a total disaster but the worst that could happen was it was put off. We had everything we needed so nothing super bad could happen at least.

I frowned down into the now empty chip bag, turning to throw it away only to let out a small, surprised squeak. "Holy shit, Zachariah, you can't just sneak up on a girl like that. You're gonna get your ass kicked," I laughed. He raised an eyebrow, the only sign that said I doubt it. After finishing up my task at throwing my chip bag away I turned my body to Zachariah completely. "What's up?"
