"Hurry up, we have to go!" Ava yelled from the front of the car. Tyson had told her to go up front while he looked in Seth's car for some clothes. They were all black and they smelled like vampire but Tyson had no choice. He slipped on some jeans and a black long-sleeved shirt and then got in the front with Ava.

"Where are we going?" Tyson asked, pulling the door shut and rolling down the window. Maybe if the window was open then the smell would go away. Maybe. Tyson breathed in the night air and closed his eyes, waiting for Ava's response.

"We have to go find the others, I think they might be at my grandma's house. They would have to go there if they have her car. She was probably gonna help Emma," Ava almost whispered the last part, like she was embarrassed about it. What had happened to Emma while Tyson was 'dead'? Did something bad happened?

Tyson cleared his throat and said, "Okay, tell me what happened." the words came out harsher than he meant them to but it delivered the message either way. He was serious this time, no stalling. He needed to know what happened.

Ava sighed and pulled out of the dirt road, out of the trees, "What was the last thing you remember?" she asked suddenly, glancing at him. What was the last thing he remembered? There was Emma chanting, then an overwhelming pain, Ava started chanting after the fog cleared, he drank that bowl of disgusting liquid and then he blacked out. That was it.

"I remember everything before I drank that gross drink and then I blacked out," he answer, watching Ava's expression carefully. Usually her emotions changed a lot, really quickly and very obvious but she hid her emotions from him, like she was hiding something. Technically, she was.

"When you blacked out, you died. The spell failed because of that potion of wakefulness, it was corrupted, or something. I wasn't really controlling myself after that," she sighed and entered town, the lights starting to shine through the windows, "I done a spell to bring you back to life and I wanted revenge so badly. The faerie gave Emma the drink so she knew what was wrong with it, so I wanted revenge on her. Emma tried to stop me and I..." she choked on her words,"I didn't mean to, Tyson, you have to understand, I wasn't myself. I've done something horrible. I think I hurt Emma really badly, maybe even killed her," a small tear ran down her cheek. Tyson reached up his hand and wiped it off with his thumb, but it was no use, more just kept streaming down.

"Ava, you didn't mean to," Tyson tried to comfort her, lying a hand on hers that was rested on the center console. What are you supposed to say to someone when you don't even understand why they're hurting? It was obvious that Ava cared for Emma but Tyson knew now that Ava's grandmother was a great healer of her kind and he believed that she could help her.

"I think she's okay, your grandmother looked like she knew what she was doing," Tyson laughed. He had figured out that, Magnolia, Ava's grandmother, had forced him to change so that he could get to Ava. She wanted Ava safe so she could help Emma.

"Why are you laughing?" Ava whispered. Her tears had stopped flowing and her cheeks were now a little red and her eyes were still glossed over. Tyson didn't want this to be happening to Ava, he wanted her to live with her mom and have a happy life, but it couldn't be that way. It could never be that way.

"It's just, when I turned into a wolf it was because of your grandmother, that's how I knew that she knew what she was doing. She sent me to keep you safe," Tyson said, looking out the window. It had started to rain and the windshield wipers were moving from side to side, wiping away the long snakes of water.

"She sent you?" Ava scrunched her eyebrows and turned to him as they stopped at a red light. The cars around them stopping as well. It was weird how even at that time of night people were more active than in the day.
