The tiny guest room didn't soothe Emma's feelings. It brought back the realization of Ava being corrupted and the moment with Tyson. She didn't feel anything for him, she told herself, they were just friends. She loved Seth but lately she had been sensing distance in Seth and she felt suspicious, like he had done something and he was hiding it. She had felt this once before with him but she had brushed it off. In the end, it came back and bit her in the ass.
It was hard to accuse Seth of something when he was being this gentle though. He trailed kisses on Emma's shoulder and neck, his strong arms wrapped around her ribs. Her soft hair was pushed out of the way and splashed out over the pillow to give Seth access to her neck. Usually, you're not supposed to give a Night Child access to your neck, they say the temptation will control them, but Emma had done this ever since she had met him and he had never hurt her. Physically.
She sighed and turned her head to the side to look at him. He was staring at her neck like he was in a daze. Emma knew he was listening to her heartbeat because he had always told her that as long as her heart still beat he would stay sane. And he had, until it had stopped beating. What had he done when it had stopped? Did he go crazy like he said he would?
His emerald eyes met hers and he smiled, "What?" he laughed. The sound of it made Emma's world turn. Without Seth she didn't know what she would do either. She felt fire when she was with Seth. But when Tyson held her today she felt molten lava. Could that mean...
No. Emma mentally shook herself.
"We need to talk," she said, trying to sound serious. He groaned and flipped on his back, glaring at the ceiling like it was the convict of a horrible crime.
"Why do you always do that?" he asked and turned his head to look at her, "Whenever we are having a moment you ruin it by bringing up something that will probably ruin my mood. Why?" She could tell he was joking but she felt bad for always doing that. Because she knew she did.
"I actually don't think this will ruin you're mood," she said and rolled over so that they were face-to-face. He smelled like the woods, not his normal honey smell. Of sap and bark and leaves. Maybe he had been outside when she had left the room and found him gone.
He raised his eyebrows and rolled on his side to copy her, "I'm listening," he said and Emma giggled. He was so much like a kid. He acted like one most of the time. With that untamed sarcasm and that look in his eye. But she knew how mature he could be. He could be put in the middle of a war, on the losing side, and find out a way to get the upper hand in a few minutes. He was a strategist and he was fast, strong, and good if you put some blades in his hands. She loved him for that.
"I'm not using any magick right now," she said. She wanted to see if he could figure it out before she had to explain it because she honestly didn't know why any of it was even happening. She needed to talk to Ava.
Seth scrunched his eyebrows together, a sign that he was confused, "Okay.." he drew out the word. Emma sighed and stood up off the bed, her feet hitting the cold wood floor. Seth sat up and folded his hands together in his lap.
"I am not using magick right now," she repeated, "You know how I had to get Ava's help so I could live again. Because I thought I would disappear. Well- I used a spell so I would look normal, remember? I don't have it on." Seth raised his eyebrows once again and looked her up and down. His mouth parted in surprised and his eyes met hers again.
A smile spread across his lips and he jumped up and was suddenly right in her face, pulling her in a hug and spinning her around like a child. She giggled and watched the colors wiz by in amusement. Emma thought everything would be alright now.
