If He Only Remembered

Chapter 17

I wake up in the morning smelling waffles. I look at the time and it was 6 am. Oh I woke up before my alarm. I change into yoga pants and a sweatshirt. I decided I would go for a jog. 

I walk downstairs and see Seth drinking coffee in the dinning table.

"Good morning gorgeous!" Seth says and pours me some coffee and hands it to me. 

"Your all dressed? Where you heading" Seth says 

"Your up early, I wanted to jog" I say 

"Natalie it's still dark out" Seth says 

"No I'll be fine" I say motioning my hand and drinking coffee. 

"Natalie, I'm coming with you" Seth says and shake my head no.

"I want me time, I'm fine Seth" I say 

"Take a guard with you" Seth says

"No that's so awkward" I say 

"You have your phone right" Seth says and I finish the coffee and kiss his head shuffling his hair.

"I'll---be---finee--" I say. Seth just shakes his head.

"Be back by 7 you know work" He says and I shake my head in agreement. I grab my headphone and water and head out on a jog. Following my phone's garmin I start to jog, thinking about Seth and everything yesterday. I start to feel someone behind me and sure enough I see a black hooded guy.  He is not following me right? I think and I jog a little faster and he quickens his pace I make a right and he does too. 

I quickly run into the forest and making sharp turns trying to lose them, what feels like 15 minutes of running, I look behind me and I see no one's following me. I desperately try to climb a tree, getting multiple splinters on my arms and legs. Owww I try hard not to scream. Once I'm far enough from the ground hidden from sight. I try to slow down my heart rate and relax. I look at my phone and it has no reception. I suddenly hear some guys running one of them stops near the tree.

"We lost her" The guy says

"Don't say that Michael! Damn it, I think she's the Claire's daughter" He says and punches a tree and I see him with a bloody fist My breathe stops, oh my god! I think.

"I shouldn't have chased her" the guy says and slides down the trees trunk. My dad has enemies? 

"Get your head out of your butt Jake that wasn't her" one of the guys says

 "I saw her come out of Seth Rutherford's house. If she marries him they will become the richest company in the world in the drug world and in business." The guy says. 

"I bet he's just using her, marries her or even if he makes her have a child and leaves her he will still gain that title" The guy says

"That's why we need the older one, we need to marry her or make her have our child" One of the guys says and laughs

"Then we kill her" One of them says and I feel so nauseous.

"Let's go it's probably not even her dude" The other guy says and they walk towards Seth's house. What seems like hours I sit on the tree scared, drinking water. It was 10pm and Seth probably would be worried sick. I should have listened to him. I cautiously jump off the tree and walk step by step making sure no guy is lurking around.  I walk in any direction, what feels like a mile I see a gas station. I go to the back of the building heading to the backside of the dump. I grab my phone ready to dial Seth, but it slips out of my hand hitting the pavement. I pick it up and the screen is cracked and it won't turn on. No this can't be happening I think.  I hide behind the dumpster and all of a sudden I feel so tired. I close my eyes but listening to my surrounding closely. I hear someone's footsteps I quickly hide behind the dumpster. It's getting late now, I was closing eyes for that long. I felt weak and hungry my stomach grumbled. DAMN IT NOW THIS PERSON KNOWS SOMEONE IS HERE.
