If He Only Remembered

Chapter 21

I was so upset that my sister had done something so foolish, I don't know what had got into her. I get out of the car and it was pretty late, around 1am and Luca quickly locks his car and holds the hospitals door for us to enter.

Vanessa greets the receptionist, "Seth Rutherford's room"

"2nd floor 207, the doctors are with him now." She says and smiles at us and Luca thanks her we head towards the elevator.

"Natalie, its going to be okay" Luca says and Vanessa nods.

"I hope so" I say and close my eyes. The elevator dings and we leave the elevator walking towards room 207. I see Taylor leaning over with his hands over his eyes. It seems like he's crying and Toni is comforting him by patting his back. James who's Seth's brother was near Seth's door trying to look threw the windows. When Toni sees us he gets up and shakes his head.

"Natalie it doesn't look too good, they said he might not survive if he does he'll have complications which they're trying to figure out now" Toni says and Taylor looks at us confused.

"NATALIE" Taylor yells and hugs me crying.

"I'm so scared, I love him so much" Taylor says and I tear up.

"Oh God" I say in pain and sit on a chair.

What seemed like hours of Taylor crying and me pacing back and fourth with James watching Vanessa with guilt. Th doctor finally got out of the room clearly tired, he had black eyes under his eyes.

"Hello, James and friends I'm Dr. Jabber, before I start... uh I want you to know... I'm trying my hardest to save Mr. Rutherford's life. I want you to understand, I received the call today to rush in Seth is actually like a brother to me we grew up together. As you may know he helped many people get on their feet and I was one of them..." He takes a deep breathe and looks towards the ceiling and my heart stops.

"I tried.." He said and his voice cuts off

"Please pray for him, right now the odds are against him, he might not survive. The bullet hit his back and hit a vein that was connected to his heart and his brain. The trauma was a lot for his brain to handle.  We should just focus on him surviving then looking at the complications" The doctor says looking at all of us.

"DOCTOR PLEASE!" Taylor yells and kneels on his knees

"I won't be able to live without him" Taylor says and I just hug him and he cries even more.

"Doctor there's no hope" James says

"I cannot say anything, right now just pray" He says and pats James on his back before walking away. I see the doctor wipe tears from his own eyes with a sleeve as he's walking away. The nurse comes out with a pen and note pad.

"You may not visit him yet, I just have to take his vitals and then you may, two at a time only" The nurse says and goes into another room to take vitals.

"You should come with me" Taylor says and looks at me.

"I'll go last, I want to stay with him as long as I can" I say and Taylor nods.

The nurse comes back with some machines and enters the room and after about half an hour later comes out.

"The first person can go in" The nurse says and Vanessa goes in with Taylor.

I wait with Toni and he grabs my hand while James watches Taylor from the screen. Luca sits next to Toni and sighs.

"I know your hurting inside, but your one of the strongest woman I have ever met" Toni says and squeezes my hand.
