"My name is Angel. I'm the girl known as the 'angel of death' here." Everyone gasped and stepped back. "I have no reason to attack you. I got my name from dealing with part pirates and sex traffickers not for killing civilians." The tension didn't go down any but they did follow me into town. "This was our town center." There was a faint blood stain where we were standing. "A year and a half ago a group known as the phantom troupe came here and massacred the Broyk clan before one of our festivals."
I described the lovely decorations that were hung up on the houses that day. Most everyone was calm now and enjoyed the tour. I pointed to a pile of ash. "This is where my house used to stand. I lived here with my mom, dad, and friend Hitomi."
A young man raised his hand. "Why are the houses gone and how did you avoid death?"
"I came into town late that day. I was gathering fruit from the forest for our festival. When I came here everyone was dead and the troupe was standing over them. I fought with a couple members for a while before I was given recognition for my fighting abilities. They left me alone after that. To answer your other question, I burned the houses and corpses." They gasped. "It's tradition to honor the dead warriors with a flame burial in their home."
"Why would the phantom troupe want to come here to kill people?" Asked the woman from before.
"For parts. The Broyk are known for our unusual bodies. Even after death the muscles will expand and contract. They wanted us so they could sell parts on the black market."
"You seem pretty calm miss Angel. Are you okay?"
"How do you know so much about the troupe?" A man asked rudely.
"Yes I am calm because regardless of what happened, I don't have the power to change it." I continued with my tour. We went through the forest and up the mountains. I showed them fruits that only grow on the island. At one point I was climbing up a tree and my dress slit revealed my hip tattoo.
"What's that for?" A kid asked me.
"It's for something I hope you'll never understand. It's the lives I've taken. Hitomi and I kept track as a way to keep our sensibilities and morals. Remembering is what keeps me sane."
"Why are there 3 red ones?" The same girl asked.
I patted her on the head and chuckled. "It's my secret!"
"What did your victims do to deserve death?" A teenage girl butted in. She accusingly pointed a finger at me.
"They came here looking for women to sell for their clients. They came to kill people for parts so they could attempt to gain Broyk abilities. They came here to enslave the able and for a clan as strong as ours, that means children as well. There is plenty more they have done but those are the most popular ones." I shot a glare at her. "They came so they could destroy lives and families for their own benefit."
Three large snakes snuck up on some of the guests. I jumped up and stomped on one and wrapped my hair around the other two to keep them away from the tourist until I could get to them. Just as fast as the snakes came, they were dead. "Are you all okay?" There was a pause and then an irruption of applause.
"That was incredible!"
"How'd you do that?!"
"Amazing!"
I grinned at the compliments. "It's nothing really. We should probably get back to the boat soon though. It'll be best to get there before dark. The island's most dangerous creatures come out at night." They complied and followed me back to the boats. Everyone settled in and I stayed guard over the visitors.
