Two months after the Opposites fiasco, I was sitting at the library when there was a scream.
Well, more a squeal, like a pig, but I still had my finger resting on the off button on my computer and the other hand in my bag for my badge.
"Oh, my god, it's Tony Stark!" someone said from nearby me. From the seats they were in, they could see directly through the library doors.
I groaned quietly and ducked my head, carrying on with my homework.
Footsteps approached me, following by the sound of awed murmuring and cameras.
A chair pulled out in front of me and a hand slowly pushed my computer closed.
I didn't look up from my physics homework. "That's a rude thing to do."
"As sassy as always, I see," Tony replied. "I need your help."
My head snapped up.
I reeled back slightly at the sight of his face. "What happened?"
Tony Stark had a nasty purple bruise on his eye and cuts on his cheeks. He looked exhausted.
"I assume you've been watching the news?" he sighed.
I shook my head. "I can't say I'm interested in hearing the latest theories on who I am, really. You know one of them actually thought I was an old lady who could actually change my appearance to seem younger?"
He snorted. "Everything's possible these days."
Of course, I was lying. Obviously, I watched the news. He didn't need to know that. I was guessing he hadn't smiled or slept properly in a few days, so I officially made it my business to make him smile. "So, what do you need help with?"
"I need you to help me knock some sense into Cap."
My smile dropped. I had heard about the Sokovia Accords and how Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson had gone Rogue to find Steve's crazy war buddy, Bucky Barnes, who blew up the United Nations meeting in Venice, killing twelve people, including the king of Wakanda. I was not going to fight for those accords, not with the knowledge that I would have to sign them, in doing so reveal myself, but put everyone I know in danger and fight my friends. In fact, I was planning on staying neutral in this, along with Louis. However, the rest of the team had quickly picked sides.
Ryker was adamantly with Steve. He didn't believe we should be under the government's hand at all times.
Renée and Marina, on the other hand, were pro accords. They thought that the world would be a better place with the government telling us where to go.
This had led to many late night arguments, according to Louis. I wouldn't know. The Cavalry, as our guardians now called themselves, wouldn't let me stay there when tension was so high. Eventually, they had had to split the three up into separate parts of the building.
These accords were tearing my family apart already.
"No," I said finally.
"What do you mean, no?" Tony frowned, evidently surprised.
"I mean, no. I won't help you fight Steve and I definitely won't bow down to these accords." I said definitively.
Tony glanced around nervously at the people that were beginning to come closer. "Come on. We'll talk about this in the car."
I opened my mouth to refuse.
"I'm not going to force you. I just want to hear your reasoning," he said in a placating tone.
