To say the least, the house party was crowded.

Hayley and I wove through the people, saying hi to those who spoke to us and eventually made it to an empty area.

We stood there alone for a while until there was a crash from nearby.

I raised a brow as Liz rushed passed.

Hayley nudged my arm and nodded in the direction of the door.

Through a gap in the people, I caught sight of Peter and Ned talking.

"I'm gonna go see what they're up to," I told her.

"I'll come with you." Hayley agreed. "I don't know anyone here."

I nodded and the two of us made a beeline for the boys.

However, we were cut off by a person standing in front of us.

Michelle Jones, a girl in my English class, bit into her toast. "Hey."

"Uh, hi...?" I trailed off, watching my boyfriend as he disappeared.

"Hi," Hayley said with a smile. "I'm Hayley."

"Michelle. You don't go here, do you?" Michelle asked in a monotonous voice.

"Nope, I'm from New Zealand. I'm on an O.E." Hayley grinned.

"Penis Parker, what's up? Where's your pal Spider-Man? Let me guess. In Canada with your imaginary girlfriend?" Flash said in a microphone, making people laugh and me roll my eyes.

"You can see I'm right here, right Flash?" I sneered loudly, making the room go silent.

"Uh-"

"Because I'm pretty sure I'm not imaginary." I snapped and turned away, just in time to see Peter disappear.

I sighed and excused myself from Hayley and Michelle, following my idiot boyfriend out onto the roof of a neighbouring house.

I folded my arms as he started to take his clothes off. "What are you doing?"

He let out a high-pitched shriek and turned around. "Jesus, Ashley! You gave me a heart attack!"

I scoffed. "Imagine how I felt to find you stripping on a rooftop."

"I can explain-"

"You're going in as Spider-Man, aren't you?" I asked in such a monotonous voice that Michelle would be jealous.

"What?" he asked, but his voice had risen about eighteen octaves (slight exaggeration) so I knew he was lying. "Pssh. No!"

I gave him a look. "Powers like the ones we have are not a party trick, Peter."

"I know, but-"

"Why are you doing this? What do you have to prove? Who do you have to impress?" I spread my hands out palms up.

"I need to prove that I'm not a liar," he whined in exhaustion, sitting down on the roof.

I sighed. "But you know that you're not. So why does anyone else matter?"

He looked up at me. "You matter."

I blushed and looked down. "Okay, thanks. That was real smooth, Parker, but-" he did his puppy dog eyes. "Stop being so cute! I can't be mad at you if you're cute!"

"That's the point, Ashy." he teased, his tongue poking through his teeth as he grinned.

My knees felt weak. "Shut up," I muttered.

He only smirked in triumph and took off the clothes covering his suit.

"How'd you get up here, anyway?" he asked.

"There are so many strong plants here, you know?" I mused, looking out over the small garden.

"Uh-huh." he teased before pulling me into his chest by my waist.

I tilted my head. "Was that you being romantic?"

"Maybe." he pressed his lips to mine and kissed me.

I smiled into the kiss and kissed back.

When we pulled away, my cheeks were redder than my dress.

"Did I tell you that you look great tonight?" Peter asked.

"You're abnormally confident." I mused.

"Is that bad?"

"Not at all." I smiled, kissing him again. I pulled away. "Go get 'em, Spidey."

Just then, a blue flash lit up the trees in the near distance.

"What the hell?" Peter asked quietly.

"No clue," I replied. "Shall we ditch the party?"

"I think this is more serious than a party." Peter agreed.

"Fair point. Let's get going."

Peter waited for only about two seconds as I waved my hand over the necklace I never went anywhere without and my suit formed.

I sighed. "You know, I just wanted a night off."

He smiled slightly. "Me too, but we don't really get breaks." he pulled his mask on and took my hand as we ran across the roof.

He flipped off the house, letting my hand go as I landed on the ground and kept running, my vibranium infused boots absorbing the brunt of the ground shock.

Peter, being the smart guy he is, tried to shoot a web over a golf course.

It didn't attach to anything so we were left to run through the course.

"This sucks!" he groaned.

"This is what we have to deal with," I said. "Us people who don't have webs or wings or something."

"Shut up, Ash. We get it, you like to whine." He teased.

"You were the one saying this sucked." I retorted.

"I can run faster than you."

"No, no, no! Don't you dare leave me behind!" I ordered, pointing my finger at him as he sped up.

"Then jump on my back."

"What? No way!"

"Come on."

"No!"
