2 years later
Gerald was getting a bottled orange juice from one of the racks in the supermarket when he heard someone say him name.
“Gerald? Pare, ikaw ba ‘yan?”
He turned around to see a middle-aged man smiling at him. “Eric, pare! Kamusta?” he said while offering his hand for a handshake.
“Mabuti. Ikaw kamusta? How’s Gaile?”
“Okay naman. How’s Francis?”
“Okay naman. Still playing basketball. He’s going to try out nga for his school’s varsity team eh.”
“That’s good. Magaling naman talaga ‘yung anak mo eh. Sabi ko nga sa kanya dati nung family day eh he should continue practicing kasi he’s a natural.”
“I know. Kaya nga I’ve been pushing him.”
Biglang napatingin si Eric sa kanyang kanan at nakita ang babaeng naglalakad sa direksyon nila. “Uy pare! Di ba si Sarah ‘yan, ‘yung dating Guidance Counselor ng mga bata?” he whispered to him.
Napangiti si Gerald nang makita n’ya ang tinutukoy ng kausap at sinabing, “She’s not the counselor anymore.”
“Oo nga. Ang alam ko right after that school year ay nagresign na s’ya.”
After that school year, she resigned from her work and got busy with the preparations for their wedding, which took place at the farm in Laguna six months after his proposal. They are now living in Gerald’s house with Gaile, who is attending a university in Manila. She has not taken another job but is helping him with the admin side of his business which includes Human Relations.
“Yeah she did… kasi she became my wife.”
Eric was so surprised at his revelation that he wasn’t able to speak up until Sarah was already in front of him.
“Hello Mr. Jimenez. Kamusta po kayo? Kamusta na po si Francis?” Sarah said.
“Hi Ms. Sarah. Or should I say Mrs. Anderson. Nakakatuwa naman at nagkatuluyan pala talaga kayo. Akala ko ba invited kami sa wedding n’yo?”
