“Let’s go,” she said to him.
“Let’s go? Okay ka lang? Ang lakas kaya ng ulan. Gusto mo bang mabasa?”
“Ay oo nga ano! Teka, kukuha lang ako ng payong.” Sarah went to her room to get her umbrella and came back out a few minutes later. “Okay let’s go.”
Gerald looked at the umbrella she just opened and gave a small laugh. “Ikaw lang ang kasya d’yan. If I go in there with you, pareho tayong mababasa.”
“Hindi ‘yan. Halika na. Magsqueeze in ka na lang. ‘Wag ka na mag-inarte d’yan. Halika na at baka hindi pa tayo makaalis.”
He did as told and squeezed in. He wrapped an arm around her and held her close, his way of squeezing them both in he said, and had his other hand holding the umbrella. As they walked towards his car, she couldn’t stop herself from giggling.
“Bakit parang ang saya-saya mo na umuulan?” he asked.
“Ang ulan kasi blessing daw ‘yan kaya dapat masaya tayo,” she meaningfully said.

Their dinner started off really light – they laughed and joked around and told stories while they eat. But when coffee and dessert came, their conversation started getting serious.
“Di ba close na tayo? Can I ask you something really personal?” he hesitantly said.
“Ah sige. Tungkol saan ba?”
“Tungkol kay Luis.”
Natigilan si Sarah sa sinabi ni Gerald. Hindi n’ya alam kung kaya n’yang sagutin ang lahat ng itatanong sa kanya tungkol sa yumaong kasintahan. “I’ll answer whatever I can.”
“Actually okay lang naman kung hindi pwede.”
“Hindi. Siguro ito na nga ang tamang panahon na mapag-usapan s’ya. What’s your first question?”
“How close were you as boyfriend and girlfriend? I mean, dumating na ba kayo sa point that you agreed to get married?”
