I woke up in an even better mood the day after I had found the cake. I spotted where I had left it and ate another small piece, not noticing the small bit of pink frosting that I left on the corner of my lip, leading to confusion when I saw Dante's blush and his friends poking elbows and teasing when I passed. I stopped and looked at them, confused, and even more so when they shoved Dante at me from behind them. He bent down a little, and I felt my face go scarlet when he put his hand on my face, blinking, but stunned in shock and embarrassment until he whispered in my ear.
"I see you found the cake I brought you yesterday. You have icing on your cheek, let me get it." He carefully wiped my cheek. I smiled as a thank you before verbally saying it and telling him to hurry up, we were going to be late, but not before grabbing his hand and using his shock as my opportunity to pull him along into the pace we needed to get to class on time; my face turning even more red when his friends cheered and yelling things like, 'Go get her, Dante'; I could hear him growling soon after I stopped growling, making me laugh once we had entered out classroom.
Once our class started, a required home ec. one, I pulled out the sewing I had been doing, it was a small cat that was a template fabric, meaning it was already cut out for me to sew. ("Stop. Is the cat you made my cat?" I nodded as they snuggled the stuffed animal closer, motioning to continue.)
I carefully picked up the needle and cut the string with my teeth, only noticing now that Dante had finished another cake and was now staring at me, something in his eyes I couldn't name until later. He offered a slice of cake and told me that the cat was cute, taking it in his hands and putting his hand on the web of string that was holding the tail at a strange angle, my poor attempt at keeping the tail up. I went to my room, a cake in my hands, but I forgot all about the cake when I found what was in my room, in the middle of the night.
I dropped the cake and screamed, the person in my room spotting me and rushing at me, taking a knife to my throat, one from the kitchen, telling me to shut up, and in that moment of fear and shock, insanity took over. I nodded my head, allowing them to take my arm, put a bag on my head, and guide me through the dark hallways, knife long enough to slice my jugular and my superior vena cava, I would die instantly if I struggled now; every time I gulped the lump pushed dangerously hard against the blade. The person leading me through the hallway by my hair eventually let go, allowing me to release the kinks in my neck, when they did so, I realized where I was. Okay, what were you taught? My hands aren't bound... I sighed softly as I heard chains being dragged in, three voices coming back with the old one; I shuddered as they got close to my ear whispered.
"This is for your own good." They paused, and my brain processed the voice as male. "But you can't possibly imagine we're gonna do, the five of us, together." I shivered and tried to pull against the chains, testing how strong they are. "They're obsidian. You aren't getting through those with your seven measly years of training." They all left, and as soon as I was sure they were gone, I cried out for Dante quietly, wanting him to save me, but it didn't look like that was happening any time soon.
