I felt heavy. Like I was weighed down. My brain sent signals to open my eyes, but it must've taken an hour for them to open. I move thrash my head away from the light, but can't; I was too weak to even move a single muscle. What.. what happened? I meant to say it, but it turned out to be thought instead.
I went to take a deep breath and realized a machine was breathing for me, which was helpful at the time because I felt my body wouldn't be able to support the functions it needed to. The nurse came in to shake Dante awake for mine and his breakfast, when she noticed my open eyes staring at her, and my normally slack mouth pulled into a flat line. "Dante." She shook him. "She's awake." I felt him shift against my leg.
"I swear, if you're doing this to mess with me.." I tried to talk but it came out as babbles; my face strained, but pulled my lips into a smile. 'She's smiling for you.' I heard a whisper. Dante shot up and immediately staring into my eyes and petting my hair. "I told you. I told you." He whispered himself into hysteria. "I told you, I would wait for my princess."
