I was woken gently, something I wasn't used to; there was a gentle hand rubbing my back, someone gently goading me awake with a small song. "Good morning to (Y/N), good morning to you." Repeating it until I shook my head and sat up, groaning. I immediately went to the dresser, the old clothes from five years ago stunning me back to reality.
"Please don't tell me this is a dream." I muttered as Dante walked over and hugged me, his scent clouding my mind. "If this is a dream, it's more like torture." He muttered something into my neck, sending soft tingles to my brain. Yeah. Not a dream. I turned around and smiled, my eyes drinking his features that had either softened or gotten more defined. Oh my Irene, those muscles. I blinked myself away from staring and looked at his hair, which had lightened up a little, whereas his eyes were a deeper blue. He had grown a little more, probably a good inch or two, and I thought to myself, Why am I here? I should be back with my Dante.
"(Y/N)? You look sad again. Are you hurt?" I shook my head and pulled on the sleeves of my old comfort jacket, shrinking into the familiarity of the fabric on my arms, as well as hiding the scars from my captors. I shook my head in response and snuggled back into the hug, wanting to block out the horrible five years of memories burned into my head. "Hey, hey. Look up, look at me. You're here, and you're safe. Garroth, Laurance, and I won't let anything happen to you, okay?"
He reassured me as he also gave me a closed eyed smile, calming me down. He wrapped his arms around me, my brain going to mush. "You're safe here, got it, Princess?" I nodded, then something buzzed, my head whipping around to find the source of the noise. He picked up an object and lifted it to his ear before groaning and saying he'd be there in a bit. "(Y/N), I have to go on patrol. If you need anything," He waited as a knock resounded from the trap door in the floor. "Garroth will be in this room, okay?" He pointed to another small room, and I nodded as Garroth walked in.
"(Y/N)? Wow, you look amazing." Garroth word vomited as Dante growled when he left. "Sorry, Dante." He turned to me, smiling goofily. "How about we catch up, yeah? I bet a lot has changed for both of us." He motioned towards the room Dante pointed to, so I figured it must be safe and followed him in, us catching up easily, seeing how he liked to talk about the same kind of topics in the same order and disorder a girl would. Finally, maybe I can get some peace of mind. I thought as I waved goodbye for the night to Garroth and snuggled up with Dante, relaxation coursing through my body for the first time in a while.
