I woke up to someone yelling angrily into a phone, and I slowly pieced together that it was Dante, with how Travis, Garroth, and Laurance were talking calmly to him as he repeatedly told them to shut up. I whimpered as I sat up; I felt a strange pain and I felt disgusting. I recalled last night's events and began to cry, hiccuping with an uncontrollable volume. I heard the yelling stop and heard someone come up the hallway to Dante's bedroom.

"(Y/N)?" I heard him whisper. I just sniffed and kept shivering as he entered. "Oh.." He paused, realizing I probably heard him and knelt next to the bed. "I'm just frustrated that someone hurt you. I'm trying to help make it right." I snuggled into the pillow and whispered a word I nearly didn't catch. "What was that?"

"Story? I wanna sleep some more." He nodded and began to tell the story again, picking up from six and a half years ago.

The princess graduated from Guard Training and the knight vowed to protect her, but when she snuck out in the middle of the night and got hurt by a bandit, the knight felt horrible that he couldn't protect her when she left. He did all he could to make up for it. He brought her breakfast in bed, and he stood watch by her door all night, and eventually, the princess let him sleep on the couch her room, making it easier to protect her and still rest to some degree.

Eventually, the princess felt better, but was still choosing a suitor to be her prince consort. She didn't want her parents to find out she loved the knight and banish him from the kingdom to protect their honor. So, they hid it. It was small kisses on the cheek, little notes in the morning and other small things that her parents thought were out of a knight's love to protect. Soon, the princess's parents fell deathly ill, and the princess had still not chosen a suitor. She asked her parents if she could choose anyone, just not a 'peasant' shortly after the knight had become head guard, and they complied, they were going to pass and their kingdom was going to need a king to help lead them. She made a proclamation the next day, she would be marrying the head guard to be their next king. Her parents were proud of her choice; they knew they loved each other from the way they looked at each other, and they unfortunately died two weeks after the wedding, making it only a few days after their honeymoon. The kinged knight didn't  know how to console his wife other than little things and slowly helping heal her wound. They went on a lived a happy life.

I felt happy to know that they lived happily ever after and gently fell asleep, noting that right before I fell asleep, he had climbed into bed with me, as well as the singular camera click from a phone as I dreamed more about the princess and the knight.
