I couldn't believe it. I was honestly in shock as I went to go tell my commander what happened, so I could get my time off. I was supposed to go home the next day anyways, if it wasn't for Hurricane Dorian. The currently infamous hurricane that ended up ripping into Canada as a category three hurricane. I was so angry for a week, and now I just feel... empty. I am not allowed to have contact with my family as I am currently stationed in a war zone and any phone could and would be tapped. I walked up to Commander Schultz and told him my situation. I was lucky and he was kind enough to understand and immediately let me go home to see my family for a gracious three months. I made sure to get it on paper and with his signature in case someone tried to pull me back. If I was severely needed, of course I would go, but I need this time with my family.

I landed, and my kids and grand kids all rushed towards me, embracing me with a hug. The grand kids were two and a half at the youngest and had known (Y/N) for the majority of their lives, except for the unborn little girl in my youngest right now. We eventually had a will reading half a week after the diary reading, and I get to do with the house we bought and lived in together as I please, along with the diary and a photo collage she made, folded, and stuck in the pages throughout the diary, and I am going to cherish it forever.
