Chaoji, Allen, Kanda, Lavi, Lenalee, Krory, and I run up the path that resembled a golden river snaking its way towards the tower. We ran until we felt that we had some time to catch our breath as the beautiful white city crumbled beneath us. I watch as Allen sets Lenalee down on a white bench while Lavi sits down next to her. Krory and Chaoji stand behind Lenalee and Lavi and they both lean on the back of the bench for support and take dramatically deep breaths. Kanda remains standing away from the group and is monitoring me from a distance. He probably still sees me as a threat. A great start to building a friendship. I guess this isn't far from the same situation Kanda and Allen were in when they first met each other, sworn enemies from the get-go. Maybe we can fix that before it gets worse. I extend my hand out to Kanda and give him a slight smile.
"I know we got off on the wrong foot, but I am hoping we can make amends!" He continues to glare at me, his demeanor not relaxing in the slightest. Or maybe not. I let my hand drop before letting a small snarky remark tumble from my lips. "Wow, and I wasn't even the one to choke you out and you're still mad." I then turn to the rest of the group. "My name is _____ _____, but you can call me ____ as Allen had said before." Allen nods his head and Krory pipes up for the first time with an excited expression.
"What a lovely name, my name is Ali-" Krory is cut short by Kanda starting his interrogation.
"How did you know about Edo?" Kanda doesn't take his eyes off of me as he rests his hand on the handle of his sword taking a step towards me. I start to open my mouth to explain but I am quickly talked over by Allen.
"She could have been told by the Noah what had happened in Edo, so give her a break. I give you my word she isn't going to try to harm us, she is that last person who would do so." I look up quite shocked at Allen's utter trust in me. Wow. Wow is right, I'm just as shocked as you. That is Allen for you. I give Allen the biggest smile I could muster. In the corner of my eye, I see Kanda turn away from Allen and answers by clicking his tongue in disdain.
"Thank you, Allen. But that actually isn't the reason. Remember how I told you about the novel, and how I read it and knew about what Tyki did to you. It's the same thing. I knew all about Edo from the beginning and I was hoping to stop it. I just wasn't quick enough, and for that, I apologize. I'm just glad that everyone is alright for the most part. You are right about one thing, I don't want to see any of you harmed." I glance quickly at Lenalee and she gives me a small smile. "I actually know all of you already, your innocence, your personalities, your future, etc. I am trying to not sound creepy here but I feel like I'm failing." I glance timidly around and receive a few smiles that give me a confidence boost. "My point is, I know you guys will get through this and make it through ok, especially since I told the Noah not to harm you. The only people I am worried about are the Noah since I know you're intentions are to still kill them." At the mention of the Noah, the corners of Allen's mouth turned slightly downward.
"____, why are you worried for the Noah? Aren't they immortal?" Allen tilts his head in confusion similar to that of a dog. I slightly chuckle before I respond.
"No, contrary to popular belief, the Noah can die. They will just reincarnate after death. I just don't want to see them so miserable anymore, they have already been through enough and caused so much damage for others. I just want everyone to live in peace." I look at Allen to see his face contorted in understanding. I know he feels the same way that I do, I just have to be confident. I peek behind me to see that Kanda has turned back to face me, hand now tightly gripping the handle of his katana.
