Chapter 16 - Final Results

As I finish the doughy goodness, Tyki calls for everyone to finish up and bring their desserts over to Skinn. I instruct Allen to grab the cookies while I get the extra surprise. Everyone gathers around Skinn. His bored expression melts away upon seeing the sight before him. Trays and trays of delectable desserts. Before Skinn could dig in, Tyki intervenes. "Alright everyone, get in an orderly line and present your treats one at a time and Skinn will either apporove of disapprove of your desserts." He states this as he moves everyone to form a line behind me and Allen.

"Here are the cookies me and ____ made." Allen offers the tray of cookies. Each sugar cookie had a chibi design of one of us in the room. Skinn picked up one that looked like him, he sniffed it cautiously before chucking the entire cookie into his mouth. After a minute he gave a thumbs up and allowed me and Allen to pass. Allen and I quickly walk over behind Skinn to watch the rest unfold. Lenalee and Lavi shuffle up to Skinn and hold out a tray filled with flat fortune cookies half dipped in chocolate, just as Allen had said earlier.

"Here you go!" Lenalee said in her usual cheerily voice. I couldn't tell if she was forcing it or if she actually felt comfortable in the situation. Skinn picked up a cookie and like before, sniffed it before throwing it down his gullet. He quickly gave a thumbs up which caused Lenalee to let out a sigh of relief. Next up was Chaoji and Krory with their Banoffee pie. Krory was the one who delivered the treat since Chaoji didn't like Noah still.

"Made by Krory and Chaoji, the Banoffee, a banana and toffee pie." Krory gave a sweep of his cape to add a dramatic factor to everything. Me, Lenalee, Allen, Lavi, and even Tyki had slightly perplexed looks but shook it off quickly. I chuckled lightly at his antics. Skinn took the fork from the plate and quickly dug in. After the first bite he contemplated for a second before giving a long awaited thumbs up. Lastly was Kanda and I was nervous. I don't think Skinn will like this at all. That's why you made that extra one right? Yeah but if Kanda won't accept it as his to use, then no matter if Skinn likes mine or not Kanda will be stubborn and stay behind. Kanda struts over and hands over the platter of red bean paste mochi to Skinn. Skinn looks slight confused but tries it anyway. He thinks for a moment but shakes his head sullenly after the first bite.

"Too bitter." he mumbles out between his chewing. Kanda looks enraged that his dessert was not accepted. Before he can open up and berate Skinn I pipe up.

"Hey Kanda, can I talk to you for a second?" Kanda looks over slightly confused but controls his temper and curtly nods. I grab his arm and pull him away from the group. "Look, I know the mochi is good, it's just not sweet enough for him, I made these green tea ice-cream mochi instead. Please give these to him to be regraded so you can continue with the group and not be stuck here." I finish up my monologue to see him looking very thoughtful. He looks away suddenly.

"Can I try one?" He mumbles out so quietly I almost don't hear him.

"Of course, you should know what you are giving him!" I hold out the tray of 9 pieces of ice-cream mochi. He grabs one quickly and pops it into his mouth without a second thought. His eyes widens for a second before shutting. He opens them and nods.

"Yes these are adequate enough. Nice work." He quickly grabs them and walks back to the group. Good job girl. Thanks, now let's hope that Skinn likes these. Kanda walks up to Skinn again and holds out the plate of ice-cream mochi. Skinn looks quite skeptical but Kanda quickly mutters out.

"Retry this dish, it was made sweeter so that you will like it." Skinn doesn't delay any more and eats one surprisingly delicately. After he finishes one mochi he goes silent. I can feel my heart beating out of control. Skinn gives a small smile and gives a thumbs up. All of the exorcists erupt into cheers that luckily no one is being left behind. Tyki, even though the challenge was passed by the exorcist, looked to enjoying himself. Skinn was merely excited at the idea of still having all these left over desserts at his mercy.
