Authors Note: Thank you so much for continuing to read this fanfiction! I know its been 2 months but I've got some great ideas and I'm ready to throw them into this! Since the holidays have passed I hope to get out a chapter once a week realisticly. I will be moving in a month and it would be nice to have at least 3-4 chapters out before I move! Let me know in the comments what you guys think the weapon will be and how you like the story so far! Enjoy~

We reach the end of the obstacle course where the long-range test awaited us. As my fast walk slowly came to a halt, I took a look back at the group. The Noah and Exorcists were on separate sides but comprised one big group. It made me smile knowing that some progress, however minor, was being made. As everyone comes to a stop in front of two tables, the twins walk to the front of the group to begin explaining in unison the test. I paused to look down the distance at the two bullseye's about 200 ft from us. This doesn't look too bad, hopefully, Lavi and Chaoji can do this. I turn back towards the twins as they start up their explanation.

"This is the long-distance test that we mentioned earlier. You have 3 tries to make the center ring with any type of long-distance weapon. The only rule is that any gun used cannot have a scope. Only the people that failed the course have to do this but everyone is welcome to, take a shot at it." With the pun said, Devit cackles loudly as Jasdero takes out his gun from his waist and aims it downfield at the bullseye. He cocks the gun for dramatic effect before pulling the trigger, releasing the hammer down, and firing the shot into the dead center of the circle. With a sly grin on his face, he turns around and asks, "Any questions?" Most people were still reacting to the pun and held a deadpan expression on their face while other had a curious glint in their eye and eagerness to test out their skills. After his little performance had not received any follow up questions, Jasdero retreated to the back of the group with Devit tagging along. "Have the two who failed go first, then the rest can go. Start when ever you are ready!" Jasdero shouts as he postures himself at the back of the group. Tyki shrugs and shuffles over to them as if to give the exorcists room to think. Lavi and Chaoji look at eachother, both scoping out how willing the other is at going first. Finally Lavi lets out a sigh and saunters up to the tables with Chaoji in tow.

"It seems like I'm gonna go first." With this comment the dread that held onto Lavi's face melts into a smirk. He spins around and stares down the twins who now look quite perplexed. Lavi motions towards the bullseyes and lets out his bombshell of a question. "You said anything long distance right? I just have to stay behind this table while hitting the bullseye with my weapon?" Upon hearing this my eyes slightly widen. He wouldn't... Would he? Mostly everyone else held confused expressions as to why Lavi seemed so confident. The twins as confused as everyone else look towards Lavi, Devit quickly responds.

"Yes, as long as no scope for a gun is involved, you can use your weapon... Wait what is your weapon again?" As Devit finishes this thought, Lavi pull out his one and only trusty hammer. I slap my hand to my forehead and begin to chuckle. Allen glances over at my now crumpled form as the laughter increases. Tilting his head he asks.

"Whats so funny?" I look up slightly while trying to catch my breath and stop the tears from flowing to respond. Only one sentence can get through before I double over again.

"Lavi just fucking cheated the system with his stupid fucking hammer." The lightbulb finally claps on for the exorcists. Everyone, excluding me, turns to see Lavi about to rev up his hammer. With his signature phrase his hammer begins to extend. He quickly points it down field as the pole continuously extends until an audible thump is heard down field. After fully collecting myself i run down the 200 ft distance to see if the tip of his hammer hit its mark. Low and behold, Lavi's tiny spear at the top of his hammer had hit the bullseye dead center. I throw up a quick thumbs up from downfield before sprinting back. I comeback to find most of the exorcists still shocked that they had not thought of him using his hammer in that capacity. Meanwhile the twins held a slightly impressed expression, but overall miffed at how their test was completely circumvented by a technicality. Lavi rested his arm and leaned onto the pole of his hammer, a smug expression never leaving his face. I shake my head in a scolding fashion before speaking up. "Look, we all realize how stupidly easy that was, but the rules were not specific enough to disqualify that, so that was all legal and fair game. No getting butthurt about it, lets the just move onto Chaoji." I motion with my hand to direct peoples attention to the other table where a nervous Chaoji now stood. This seemed like enough to distract the twins from whining about it. "Now Chaoji, what will you use?" I ask walking up to him. He looks me in the eyes before glancing down at the table looking partly defeated, partly concerned.

"I don't really have anything I am good at long ranged. Working on a ship for so long the only thing I can do is ropes..." With that statement in mind I think for a moment. Rope... Rope... What is similar to a rope that he could use... Wait I think that would work! What I remember from the manga was his innocence he acquired used a chain! Maybe he could use some sort of.... I begin tapping my foot all the while displaying wildly differing emotions on my face leaving everyone to decipher what they mean.

"Yes... THATS IT!" Without a moment of hesitation I bolt to the closest door. Alright take me to a weaponsmith! On it. Meanwhile multiple voices called out behind me to wait but I was already slipping through the door. "Be back in less than 5! I promise!" And with that I shut the door behind me.
