Chapter 21 - Enhanced

Authors Note: Shorter chapter, but I released two in one day! Let me know if there are any grammatical errors since I only proof read it one or two times for each chapter. Enjoy~

Everyone begins filing into a line to run through the course. First up was Kanda to complete his redo run. I stand across from him outside of the course with the timer in hand. Kanda slightly bends his knees in anticipation before getting into a starting position. With this I begin the countdown.

"On your marks, get set, go!" And with that, Kanda was off with a flash. I jogged quickly behind him, very impressed with his speed and dexterity. Already at the finishing line Kanda runs through it as I hit the timer. 47 seconds, not far from what he had last time. Why am I not surprised? We both walk back to the starting line, slowly so that Kanda can catch his breath. Once we get there I announce his time. "47 seconds was Kanda's time. Does anyone have a problem with that?" My question's tone was laced with ill intent to hopefully scare the twins from challenging me. Luckily it worked and both twins shock their heads quickly. "Good, who's next?"

One after another the Exorcists raced. Allen, Lenalee, and Krory all passed the obstacle course just under 55 seconds while Lavi and Chaoji were both a couple seconds too late. Lastly, it was my turn. I hand over the timer to Lenalee once again. "I know you can keep up with me with your boots activated. Plus you were the first up after Kanda so hopefully you are rested." She gives me a quizzical nod before taking the timer. I quickly do some stretches to relax my calfs and thighs. I wonder how I'll do, it's been a little bit since I've trained. You'll be fine, from what I observed on earth plus your new Noah abilities you should be fine. Did your Noah traits make me faster? All Noah are super human so you should have some buffed abilities. Cool. I can't wait to test it out. I quickly get into my running position as Lenalee begins to count down for me.

"On your marks, get set, go!" I take off with all of my energy and launch through the air. Feeling like a bullet I make my first step on the course about 10ft from where I originally stood and pick up more speed. I feel as if electricity is running through my entire being, driving me forward faster and faster.I race through the course and quickly finish. Lenalee comes up behind me with her innocence activated. She looks... slightly scared? She walks up to me while heavily breathing, shock in her eyes. "____. You ran the course in 28 seconds. What was that?" I was shocked myself at the time. I thought it was at least 35 seconds or more. Was that the Noah powers? Well partly, but you also played a part in that time. I guess with my old job at home it makes sense. "Um, I'll explain with everyone." We walk back to the group to see equally shocked faces, most likely from my start.

"She got 28 seconds..." most were not stunned any further since they watched me run but no fear present in their expressions. That's good at least...

"Let me explain. I'm also a bit surprised but what I assume happened was my own running abilities heightened with Chronea's super human abilities that caused this. I knew I was a good runner from my job back in my world but not that much." After the explaination most seemed to calm down. Chaoji was the only one with a curious expression. He then piped up, asking the question most were thinking.

"What was your job? You weren't an athlete, were you?" I shook my head and chuckled slightly.

"No, I was a police officer. I had to stay physically fit, even more so than the males at my department because I couldn't show weakness. I was one of the few female officers there and if I showed anything less than the others during tests and drills I probably would have been let go. So I trained harder and worked harder to be where I was." I smiled and looked up at everyone. " I honestly expected to get 40 seconds or higher so I'm just as surprised as you all." Most of the Exorcists has soft smiles. Lenalee held a knowing and sad smile which reminded me of her time in the Order. She probably had to prove her worth as well. The three Noah looked overall displeased. Are they angry at me for getting a higher score?

"That's stupid, you shouldn't have to work harder to prove yourself just because you are a girl. Stupid ass humans..." Jasdero mutters out this sentence and crosses his arms. I smile brightly and give him a hug.

"Thank you, but I am glad I'm in shape, even if it is for the wrong reason. I have this strength to protect the people I care about." Letting go I back up and start walking parallel to the course. "Let's go ladies and gentlemen, we have a long ranged test to do!" I start to skip over to the end of the course, my thoughts consuming my other senses. That was fun, let's see what we have in store for the long ranged test. I wish I had my old gun. The twins will probably let you borrow one. That would be nice.
