Chapter Nine: She Always Smiles

Alex

-

That's the first time Arya didn't have a smile on her face.

She always has a smile on her face.

And that's why I'd fallen for her.

Not only was she smiling when I first met her, but she was beautiful and cute.

Watching her write my name on the cup was so amusing as well, her fingers not slipping to make a mistake, each letter perfected.

Then when she spoke in the cute accent of hers, it was something about the girl that made you just need to be friends with her.

So, I made it my mission to become friends with the talkative Spanish accented girl named Arya.

It was awkward for me, considering I was used to pushing people away. But somehow Arya managed to always keep things fun.

There were the little things you noticed about her too. The way her eyes light up and almost sparkle when she talks about things she loves, or the way she will twirl her hair, the way she walks, the way her hair cascades in loose curls down her back. Her pale complexion still gorgeous and the way she dresses so warmly like she's freezing all the time.

Maybe I'm the only one who notices, but I don't care.

I'm undoubtably in love with Arya.

My problem is, she seems to have lost interest in me.

Maybe it was just the night, a bad shift at work? Or maybe just the cloudy cold weather. Whatever it may be, I don't like it.

I don't like seeing Arya without her familiar smile that lights up the whole room.

I sigh and walk glumly into the grocery store to replace some of my own stolen food.

Arya has seemingly take it upon her to lead the girls in this war. I took it upon myself to lead the guys.

We have some pretty good pranks ahead.

I find Arya quite intriguing this way too.

We are at each other's throats when we prank, but as soon as that's put aside it's never brought up again.

I smile to myself as I check out the food and walk back to the dorms.

A few of the guys are inside on video games. My best friend, Tristan, walks over.

"Catch Arya at all today?" He smirks.

"Yeah. She seemed a little off though." I shrug.

"Maybe just the weather," Tristan states.

"Maybe," I nod hopefully. I place the food I bought in 'my' cupboard, we all had 'our' cupboards.

I lean against the island and sigh, a habit of mine, sighing.

"Hey!" Tristan yells throughout the dorm. "First year girls have challenged us to a soccer game!"

Sort of a filler chapter. I wanted everyone to know what Alex felt like about Arya. :3
