Being with (y/n) makes Remus the happiest person alive. When you accepted his proposal of being his girlfriend, he was over the moon. Together five months later, he still can't believe you're his and only his. However, there is just one teeny tiny problem. After they started dating, (y/n) and Moony swore not to keep any secrets from each other. (Y/n) has terrible trust issues because of what is happening in her family outside Hogwarts. (Y/n)'s father was what you could call a liar and you didn't want to encounter anyone else like him.

The problem is that Remus Lupin wasn't entirely honest with you. He couldn't bring himself to tell you the truth about his childhood and what he really is: a werewolf. Being with you is the greatest thing that keeps him happy and makes him feel alive, losing you would mean otherwise. If he tells you what he is and you didn't want anything to do with him anymore, he would as well be as good as dead.

He tried. He tried to tell you at any chance he could but he always chickened out. He was not ready, he would never be, in his opinion.

However, after three months, (y/n) became suspicious. Once a month, Remus would appear bruised and battered and he wasn't telling you. You were hurt, of course, that you couldn't tend to him because you didn't know the cause of his wounds. That is until (y/n) starts getting mad, as well. They swore to tell each other everything and Remus is definitely breaking the promise. (Y/n) tried reasoning out to herself to defend her boyfriend. What if it was confidential? But she always ends up with "Does he not trust me?"

One specific morning, after a full moon, minutes before their first class, Remus was walking (y/n) to her class. He was looking tired and beaten and you were worried to death. He wanted to tell you the truth and Merlin knows he hopes that when he does, it isn't the end for the two of them.

"(Y/n) I have to tell you something," Remus said quietly so they wouldn't be overheard and held her upper arm to pull her into a corner.

"What is it?" (y/n) said tiredly. She was tired guessing what Remus had been upto to appear like this. If he didn't want to tell her, she's not going to insist.

"I know you're wondering why I always disappear once a month and appear like I have fought three hippogriffs at the same time," he started. He was so nervous. His heart is beating loudly in his chest that he was surprised she couldn't hear.

"Damn, right you are," she said, looking at her boyfriend with a suspicious look.

"I'm sorry I couldn't tell you outright! I was afraid you'd leave me and -"

"Can you just tell me?!!" She had enough of the secrets and excuses.

Remus breathed deeply. "I'm a werewolf, (y/n)."

(Y/n) was shocked and surprised that her eyes went wide. You knew how dangerous werewolves were and you never expected Remus to be one. He reads for fun for Godric's sake!

Remus expected your reaction but was never ready to receive it. He loves you so much to bear seeing you look at him like that.

Truth is, (y/n) doesn't hate it that Remus turns wolf nor scared. She felt very hurt but she also felt understanding and acceptance because (y/n) loves Remus as much as he loves chocolate. She just can't overlook the fact that he kept a secret from her like her father did to her mother. You wanted to tell him this but the bell suddenly rang and you didn't want to be late for McGonagall's class. (Y/n) had been late twice before and her professor told her that the third time would mean detention. She didn't want that.

"(Y/n)?" Remus was becoming more worried with every passing second without a reply. He felt almost like crying.

"Look, can we just continue this later?" she said, turning away. They didn't have the same classes as Remus is a year older than (y/n).

"Wait, please – please, (y/n)," Remus was begging but (y/n) already entered her class for that morning.

Remus felt brokenhearted. This is exactly what he fears – you not accepting him. He felt very hurt that he couldn't bear to go to class or eat lunch and dinner. His friends were very worried about him but they just thought it was because of the full moon last night, so they let him be. (Y/n), however, was looking everywhere for Lupin at any break time she had. He was nowhere to be found all day and she was growing anxious. When she arrived at the long table at dinner and she didn't spot the sandy-haired boy, she went straight to the three Marauders.

"Where's Remus?" you asked them.

"Oh hey (y/n)!" Sirius said. "He's in the dorm. Apparently, he's not hungry. We tried convincing him to eat but he just wouldn't. I wonder what happened." He tried covering up for Moony, thinking that (y/n) does not know yet.

"Yeah, but by all means, you can go to our room and visit him, I'm sure he'll love that," Prongs said, winking at (y/n).

(Y/n) didn't need more encouragement. She was worried all day so she went straight to the boys' dormitories upon entering the common room.

When she entered, (y/n) heard a deep voice say "I told you I'm not hungry, Padfoot." Remus was lying on his bed, his hand over his head so he didn't really see who entered.

(Y/n) sat down on her boyfriend's bed, beside him.

"Bugger off, Black," Remus mumbled.

(Y/n) chuckled. "Oh but I'm not Black, do I need to bugger off still?"

Remus sat up straight so fast he became dizzy for a few seconds. "(Y/n)!"

"Hey, love. Where have you been all day? I was worried," (y/n) said, cupping Remus's face and stroking it lovingly.

"(Y/n)," Remus breathed. He couldn't believe you're here, not after he told you the truth. He didn't think you're still together now that you know he's nothing but a monster. "Are we still together?" He couldn't help but ask.

(Y/n) felt suddenly hurt, wanting to cry. "What?" she whispered, "Do you not love me anymore?"

"What? NO, no, that's not what I meant! Merlin knows how much I love you but do you accept me? Do you accept a werewolf for a boyfriend? I didn't think you would because we're mons –"

Remus stopped talking as (y/n) kissed him to shut him up. He smiled through the kiss, knowing that this is (y/n)'s way of telling him she still loves him.

"I don't hate you nor am I afraid. Remus, we swore after I said yes to you that we would tell each other everything but you didn't. You would appear bruised and beaten monthly but I couldn't do anything to help you because you wouldn't tell me. I felt useless and hurt. My boyfriend was in pain and I couldn't help him." Tears fell out from (y/n)'s eyes as she told Remus this.

Remus now understood that (y/n) left him this morning not because she hated him but because she is hurt. He put his arms around (y/n) and hugged you tightly.

"I am so sorry, (y/n). I couldn't. I didn't think you'd still love me after knowing the truth. God, I love you so much. I promise not to repeat this and always tell you the truth. Do you still trust me?" Remus asked against (y/n)'s hair.

(Y/n) sobbed in his shoulders but nodded vigorously. You were crying from mixed emotions but the most apparent is love. Merlin, you love this boy so much.

"I love you too, so much, Moony," (y/n) pulled back and smiled at her boyfriend.

Their lips met and they poured out their longing for each other through the kiss. They were only apart for a day but it felt longer than that. When they were breathless, they pulled away. If they had a choice, their kiss would be for much longer.

"Now, how about dinner?" (y/n) asked. Remus nodded, stood up, smilingly and held her hand. Together, they went straight for the Great Hall.
