Moony was more rabid and feral tonight. Sirius didn't know what triggered it or why he was like that that one full moon. When the four of them – the Marauders – were walking through the Forbidden Forest, the werewolf just started lashing out of nowhere. He was making really loud growls and scratches the air repeatedly. When his sight was set on a stag near him, he jumped and attacked, feeling threatened.
But Moony didn't stumble on James.
Sirius jumped in front of his best friend that Remus landed on him, instead of Prongs. They went rolling on the ground and fought each other off. Having his conscious mind present, Sirius tried not to do much damage to his friend but he also didn't want to die because surely, Remus would blame himself and he really didn't want to die, in general any time soon. He was too young!
Rolling they went and down a slope. They only stopped stumbling down when they hit a huge tree. Remus didn't stop scratching Padfoot. The latter was really having a hard time now stopping him and blocking his paws off him. If he could talk, he would have been shouting and yelling at Remus to stop, but he couldn't.
Suddenly, a movement from a nearby bush stopped Moony. The werewolf sniffed the air, jumped off Sirius and ran off towards wherever the thing he smelled is. Sirius just laid there, with cuts on his belly. He's not in a fatal condition but he was just really tired from all the stumbling, the scratches and the resistance. If he was a human person, he would have fainted from all these.
Out of nowhere, a small animal came into his view. It resembled him – a dog – but it's very tiny. The dog-like creature sniffed and walked around Padfoot's limp body and stopped just beside his face. There was a weird sound and sudden movements and the last thing Sirius Black remembered was seeing a blurred girl's face and gentle hands on his body.
"Earth to, Paddy!" James snaps his fingers repeatedly in front of his best friend's face. They are in the Great Hall right now, eating dinner when Sirius remembered what happened last full moon. Remus, of course, doesn't remember what he did but James and Peter told him. Until now, the Prefect still feels guilty about it and apologizes every time he remembers.
Sirius, on the other hand, could care less. He doesn't blame Remus for anything because for one, when he woke up the next day in his own bed, there were no marks, scars, no anything on his body! There wasn't even any pain.
James told him that when they found him near the tree where Remus left him lying, he was in human form covered in a white blanket, sleeping peacefully. There were dried blood on his body but James swore there weren't any cuts or scratches. Sirius fully remembered the pain he felt before he fell into the slumber. He was so sure about the cuts Remus left!
Until now, he was still wondering what really happened but he was entirely sure the girl he saw had everything to do with it. He vowed to find her that morning. The problem is that he doesn't where to start. All she left was a white blanket and a living Sirius.
"Where did you go?" James asks.
Confused, Sirius raises an eyebrow. "What? I was with you this whole time."
"You were off to space, Paddy. Couldn't talk to you the whole time we were eating," James rolls his eyes and laughs. Sirius looks around and realizes that they're now in the common room. When did they get here?
Padfoot scratches his head and stares into space again. "I need to find her."
"Yeah, man. We were looking for her for two weeks! People probably think we're crazy or something."
Sirius told James (he tells him everything) about the tiny animal and the girl in the forest. He told him that it was her doing why he was fully healed even after everything. Prongs helped Padfoot find her. Moony, in his guilt, also helped when he heard what happened and what they were doing. They asked random questions to girls in hallways, classrooms, in the Great Hall and even in the common room.
