No matter how many times (y/n) tells him she loves him, Remus Lupin, her boyfriend, cannot stop being insecure. For one, he's not like other boys – he's a werewolf, he does not have the looks like Sirius does nor James' confidence. His scars constantly remind him of his flaws. One thing he's grateful for though, is (y/n) for saying yes to him when he asked her out. Truth is, (y/n) admitted her feelings first but Remus initiated the first date. How could he not? His first love telling him she loves him is not someone he could let go. Not even for his insecurities. But even then, he always feels not enough, like he's not good enough for (y/n). Moony always thinks that it's just a matter of time until she loses her interest in him and finds someone else better.
(Y/n) is a Ravenclaw. It makes perfect sense actually. She's smart, like him. They started to get acquainted when they would always see each other in the library, sometimes even reading a common book for a common class. They borrow and lend each other's notes. Sometimes, even when they do not have to study for a test, they would meet in the library so they could be in each other's presence. Good thing they became together because one couldn't last long without the other.
"Hey, love, how was your exam?" (y/n) said when she was approached by Remus outside her class. (Y/n) kissed his cheek, earning a timid smile for him.
"It was okay," he replied. But that was only half the truth. Full moon is coming nearer and his issues come back to him full force that he couldn't focus on this test. It was an easy one but he felt like he didn't give his best.
Someone approached the two of them in the hallway. It was David Rogers, one of (y/n)'s many admirers. "Hey (y/n)! Can you teach me about animagus later in the common room? I couldn't quite understand it yet," he asked. Remus knows he's only doing this to get close to his (y/n). He was about to tell him off when (y/n) beat him to it.
"I'm sorry but Remus and I already have plans tonight."
They made no such plans but (y/n) knows of Moony's insecurities in their relationship and she wasn't about to make him feel worse about it.
"Let's go love?" (y/n) asked her boyfriend, taking his hand in hers before he even got to answer her.
David was left there, gaping. What the hell?

Two days before the full moon, Remus was going to library for a last minute review. He couldn't study well last night because of... well, things on his mind that includes a certain (e/c)-eyed beauty.
When he was looking for books, he heard David saying to his friends on the other side of the bookshelf, "I honestly don't know why she's staying with him. I mean, look at him! Look at me! We look better together. We are better together. Merlin, I wish she'd break up with him soon." After he said that, Moony heard his friends laugh, earning shhh's from other students nearby.
Remus couldn't help it. He rounded the side of the book shelf to approach them, a cruel expression on his face. He knows (y/n) is too pretty and too perfect for him but he's not giving her up for someone like David or for anyone else, for that matter. She's his!
Remus held up his wand. Between the two of them, Remus has a better chance of winning – he's mad beyond reason and he's armed. David didn't have the time to snatch up his wand from his pocket, not when the point of Moony's is only inches from his chin.
"Hey! Hey! Remus, stop, stop!" said a soft voice from the aisle between the shelves. (Y/n) was fast-walking towards the group, her eyes focused on Moony, only on Moony. Moony faced her, captivated. For a moment, he forgot why he was so mad.
(Y/n) held Remus' hand that's holding the wand and his back, trying to pull him away from there. "Hey, love, come on. He's not worth it. He's only provo –"
"Oh come on (y/n)! You can do better than that! Better than him!" David arrogantly said, now that no wand is threatening his life.
Remus faced him again quickly, his anger coming back full force.
"She's mine! And you will never –"
But (y/n) went in front of him, narrowing her eyes on David. It almost seems like she's protecting him from them.
"Remus is right, you asshat! I'm his! And next time you tell him things like that, I am not going to stop him for your sake and you're not going to like how that will end up for you!" And she grabbed her boyfriend's wrist and dragged him out of the library to an empty hallway.
"Are you okay?" (Y/n) knew that the full moon comes tomorrow and though Remus got close to hexing someone out of the classroom, she understood.
"Are you not mad at me?" Remus asked, apologetic but not entirely regretful. He would have hexed David if (y/n) did not come around. But (y/n) only cupped his face in her hands and looked up at him smiling. "Why would I be? They shouldn't have said that. I love only you."
This made Remus smile. He wasn't expecting this. She was so angry in the library at them but she instantly became so sweet and caring when there was only the two of them.
"And I, you," he replied but he couldn't help but think about what David had said about her doing something or someone better. His face immediately became bitter then sad then, he sighed.
"What is it, love? Is it the full moon?" (y/n) asked, sensing his distress.
Remus only shook his head. Wordlessly, (y/n) suddenly understood.
"Was it about what he said? Look, don't listen to him, Remus. You're the only one that I want. I wouldn't risk admitting my feelings to someone if I'm not completely being honest about it," (y/n) tried to ease his feelings. She hugged him and rested her head on his shoulders.
"But what if you get tired of me? I'm not like Sirius or James. I'm not as good-looking or confident. I turn rabid every month and I have these scars as a reminder of what I am." He pointed at his face. He couldn't help it, he had to ask or else he'd go insane. He needed assurance and (y/n) was the only who could give him that.
She pulled back and looked him straight in the eyes, her gaze loving. She let her fingers trace his scars on his face.
"Oh, Remus! I love you because you're you – because you're not Sirius or James but because you're Remus. My Remus. If they had been the one I had liked, then I shouldn't have confessed to you, now, should I? I love you, so much. I would never ever get tired of you."
"You promise?" he asked, his eyes seeking for truth and with her words, "I promise" and her eyes looking at him like he's the best thing that had ever happened to her, he found it.
"I love you (y/n)," he said as he snaked his arms around her pulling her to him and embracing her tightly.
They pulled back after some time and (y/n) whispered, her lips close to Remus's ear, "Oh and didn't you know?" she paused. "Your scars make you look so hot."
